SouthSide Pizza — Restaurant in Forest City

First I must say, that my review does not come from a place of anger, hate or trying to hurt a business, simply from a place of trying to give feedback, and from someone who spent over a decade in the pizza world. If I could’ve given a half star, I would’ve given 3 1/2 instead of just a 3.

The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was clean, and ingredients were quality ingredients.

Having said that, the pizza was heavy on the cheese, low on the sauce and in turn did lack some flavor(which I have seen mentioned in a few other reviews). I would also highly highly recommend sweeping the oven more frequently, to avoid burning the bottom of the pizza, as ours was burned.

I know this is a new venture, and thus a continual work in progress, so I will try it again at some point, and I genuinely hope...

So we are new to the area and we are a pizza loving family and we were looking for a good pizza place close by and this place was the first place we tried. We absolutely fell in love and we like our pizza well, well done and they absolutely perfected it especially last night ( 11-21-24) that I had to write a review. Their prices are totally fair and the staff are very nice . We have lived here about a month and a half and have gotten pizza here 3 times already lol I would possibly recommend a loyal customer program maybe to where possibly if you buy so many pizzas you get 1 free or something on that lines , that'd be pretty cool but just basically wanted to hop on here quick and tell everyone about their amazing pizza and to definitely try them out!!!...

I am from up north about an hour out of Chicago so when I heard there was an authentic deep dish pizza local I was excited to try it. I ordered the deep dish with pepperoni and came home to my surprise and it was topped with cheese (thats a first for me) I figured I'd give it a try and instead of pepperoni they put mushrooms and meatballs on my pizza. I do not like mushrooms so I had to pick all the mushrooms and meatballs out of the pizza to make it just a cheese pizza. After I removed the mushrooms and meatballs it was a good pizza. I would use the word "authentic Chicago style deep dish" very lightly with this pizza. It was a 60% accurate deep dish. I gave it a high score due to the staff being nice and the attempt...
