Pollo Maya — Restaurant in Forest Hill

After my BF saw this restaurant on TikTok, we had to test the hype. We are foodies and always have an open mind and stomach. Lol! Well, nothing like watched. I love me some hole in the walls, but maybe we caught them on the wrong day to dine in. Took about 3 minutes for someone to come to take our order, which that part we didn’t mind.. He was really nice. I ordered the quesadilla maya and the bf ordered a half a chicken. Drinks are bottles or cans or they do have a selection of Aguas Frescas. Of course, I had to order a bottle coke! BF ordered the Horchata. The salsa bar was fruitful but really messy; no limes and no cabbage. Unfortunately, they had very little chips as well. I asked for more but he never brought out. Our food came out fast, and it looked really good. If you have had Pollo Regio, this was similar cooked chicken. My quesadilla was homemade and cheesey, with carne asada. It was pretty good. I am not a fan of tons of cheese unless its on pizza, but it was good. The lettuce on my plate was not looking good so I only added the onions and cilantro. The BFs chicken looked good but something was missing. Flavor! Beans were good and rice not so good. i got the quesadilla maya and it was delicious!! i got it with the pastor and it was very well cooked and juicy! i also got the large agua fresca and it was overpriced in my opinion, it was $7 the service was horrible the women that took my order was very hard to understand because she was talking in a very low voice almost whispering and when i would ask her to repeat herself she would keep the same low voice. the cashier made it very hard to order i asked her a question and she didn’t even respond all she did was mumble and point at the menu, it was very frustrating! seems like their employees aren’t trained for their jobs can’t even do the bare minimum! before we got done eating we got one more order but to take home and also asked for two to go boxes and it took long to get the food and even longer to get the to go boxes and when we did receive them they were dirty and crushed to the point it wouldn’t even close. we were the only ones there and there were a lot of workers but no one helped and they were just sitting and talking so therefore the service was very bad. it was very unorganized inside with their supplies out by the tables and in the...

I saw this place on tiktok so I decided to stop in and try the quesadilla Maya with chicken and let me tell you the quesadilla was atleast a foot long and loaded with chicken and cheese so flavorful and the chicken was still juicy all on top of a soft delicious hand made corn tortilla and the service was good very attentive and friendly I will definitely be returning

EDIT: unfortunately this visit was a night and day difference from my first experience. The salsa was very jiggly and came out all at once like jello stuck together. The quesadilla Maya was not hitting the mark the pastor had no flavor and completely lacked that juicy flavorful experience I had ny first time and my gf got the asada quesadilla maya and it was bland as well and did not taste anything like the last time we visited. The churros came with Strawberry inside them instead of caramel and tasted very off as well. there was a change in the cook or something because this did not hit the mark at all I don't think I'll be back to spend that kind of money for something that I'm not sure will taste...
