I was not a fan of the food. Perhaps I should just stick to the basics and try the pho. I wanted to see what their apps were like and I regret my decision. The only one I liked was the spring rolls. Those were delicious. The others, however, were extremely bland and had no taste and I threw them in the trash. I tried the summer and shrimp rolls and the only difference between them is this thin strip of meat I almost didn't notice. They are primarily stuffed with lettuce and it's all completely tasteless. The peanut sauce was good but it didn't make the rolls taste better. The calamari was the worst I've ever had. It tasted like nothingness and air.
Update 5/31 under different mgmt than a few years ago and the food is much better. I thoroughly enjoyed most of what was purchased yesterday. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the seafood pho. I've never had pho before and I just don't think it's for me. The soup had kind of a bitter taste. The crispy spring rolls, pork, and beef were delicious! The dumplings weren't that great, especially not the steamed ones. The summer rolls are...
Read moreThe hubby and I tried this spot and highly recommend it! We ordered the combination vermicelli bowl, pho Tai nam (#28), and crispy spring rolls. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Only drawback is they don't serve beer, would have loved to drink a Saigon beer with the meal to complete it. The lady who served us was also really nice (not sure if she's the owner or what). Will definitely go back!
Edit: Went back again to get takeout for the family. Wonton soup was amazing, summer rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce they came up was delicious. Tried their lemongrass beef and it was delicious - beef was very tender and well flavored, plus a good size portion. Also ordered some grilled pork and rice dish, which I thought was alright (a little on the vinegary side for me) but my husband who ordered it really liked it. I have yet to be disappointed by anything on their menu - and their iced Vietnamese coffee is to die for!!!! Will be making this a regular go-to spot...
Read moreYay for delicious hotpot in the area!
Hotpot is only available after 30pm. It's suggested to have a reservation. Portion-wise, it will serve 4-6 people.
Hotpot involves having a communal soup bowl separated into two broths (spicy and nonspicy), and platters of meat and vegetables and noodles. Everyone has their own bowl and spoon and will cook out of the same pot. A bowl of sauce is also provided but the broths were so delicious I soon forgot about the.
The broths were delightful. The nonspicy was flavorful and very good, but the spicy is the star of the show. Not too spicy, but has elements of Chinese numbing spice and I'd have drunk a whole bowl on my own if I'd been allowed.
It does take a bit of coordination to feed multiple people from the same pot. Be careful not to burn yourself.
It's an experience for sure! Would love to come again soon! Usually we have to make a 3 hour drive to northern Virginia to get our Hotpot fix, I'm happy to have...
