My daughter wanted hibachi so I told her to order and I would pick up on my way home. Upon walking into the restaurant I was greeted with a solemn, "welcome to Bonzu". There was not a lot of customers and some of the staff were sitting at the bar appearing to cash out tips for the night. I informed the very tall young man at the register that I was picking up a call in order for, and I gave him my daughter's name,because I had already confirmed with her that the order was in her name and not mine. He asked me if it would be cash or card and I said card. He provided my total and I was handing him my card and he kind of pointed to the keypad where I could insert my card or tap to pay. He never said anything just motioned in that direction. I tapped to pay, got my receipt and waited. Mind you there was a to-go meal sitting on the counter behind the bar when I arrived. I waited about 3 minutes when out of the blue this very tall young man said, "oh" and proceeded to hand me the order that had been sitting behind the counter since I arrived. As I was on my way out of the door I did ask if there was a reason I was waiting for an order that was ready when I got there. He really did not have a reason but he did feel inclined to tell me that at least the food was still hot. I informed him that was not the point and that I should not have had to wait for an order that was behind the counter ready to go the entire time. There were 3 other young ladies who work there sitting around the bar as well. No one said or did anything. Everyone has an off day/night sometimes so I am willing to give the business another chance but this was not a very good...
Read moreWe go to bonzu pretty often once every week/every other week, & it’s always amazing service. But I have to take a second to highlight just how amazing Dedi is. We have him as our server almost everytime & every single time he goes above and beyond. The last 2 visits in particular are what led me to making this review. Last weekend it was my sons birthday(7), Dedi wanted to sing him a song - he knew my son was nervous so instead of bringing everyone out to sing he just got one person & gave the rest of the instruments to us at the table to join in. Making it so special, while making sure he was comfortable. Then yesterday, we went to bonzu after a really rough day. He remembers my kids names, & he immediately knew something was off with us. I explained to him that both of our kittens had just passed away the night before & we just needed to get out of the house. He asked what our cats names were and looked at my kids and said “Hold on just a second, I have some of Thea & Cleo’s (our kittens) friends. Then proceeded to grab a bag and come back to our table. He stood there and made both of my children balloon animal keepsakes - that were their cats “friends”. I was almost sobbing at the table, because of how sweet and special that was to me. Read moreThis is my new favorite restaurant. We visited on Sat Oct 5th at around 2pm. There were a few patrons eating...but far from busy. Waitress (Fanny) brought waters and menus and we read over the menu. Waitress came back and wife hadn't quite decided so we asked for a minute or two more. Waitress disappeared and after about 10 minutes we finally asked another waitress to send our waitress. She arrived and we ordered. Another person (not sure it was a part of the wait staff) brought my food. We waited a few mins for my wife's food (sushi) to be brought. I kept looking around for our waitress but she was no where to be found. After a few more minutes, I went and inquired at the sushi bar if my wife's order was ready. As it turns out, her order was sitting on the bar waiting to be taken to the table. We ate. Waitress checked on us during our meal but was no where to be found when we finished. After waiting probably 10 more minutes, we finally asked another worker to to bring us our ticket. Fanny brought us our ticket, we paid and left. I hope this is an isolated incident and I hope she gets better at being available by simply walking thru the dining area where if she is needed she can assist. I will post another review on the next visit because....."this is my new favorite...
