Update: Overall still really like this place, serve has been constantly good but unfortunately not the food. Has been kinda of off as far as balance last few meals. Tonight was the most noteworthy. The Duck Confit ( which I’ve had at several restaurants and even cooked myself ) was MUCH to salty. My husband even said his Salmon was salty and he normally wouldn’t say anything so it had to be salty. We still ate the food but still..
This place is really a gem, right in my back yard. I’m giving them 5 stars because they deliver on what they promise. Elevated southern food. It is so obvious that these dishes have been conceptualize by a professional chef. From presentation to balance of flavor and texture but at the same time the flavors at relatable and that not easy to accomplish. If you look at my other reviews you will see that I LUV to eat 😆. I’m a Fine Dining junkie. I love pretty food but it also has to taste good and be cooked perfectly and Grits give you that. I could pick this place up and put it in Midtown easily. I’ve been eating here since 2009 actually but mostly takeout, only in recent years have my husband and I started actually dining in. Actually right before COVID and now again. We just went last night and had a meal. I was craving a good steak and the filet did not disappoint. A perfect Medium and the accompanying sauces were so balanced. Also loved the Almond Joy dessert cocktail. Only once have I order something here that didn’t taste good and honestly I think the ingredients were just bad, and that can happen. But they made it right without hesitation. I had order it to go and when I got home and called back and told them they offered to give me a refund without me even having to ask. Yup this is our little...

Since having a reservation didn't work out last time, the girlfriend and I tried walking in. With literally half the tables empty we were offered only bar seats. Yawn. So make a reservation, get screwed (last time); don't make a reservation, also get screwed (this time). No worries. I won't be back, thanks.
First update: Unfortunately, they lost stars for how they treated my mother the last time she went. I won't go into detail because I don't really care to air it all out, but I'll just say that the service was poor and inadequate, and... smug. If I was a fair person, I'd take away all their stars, but as I'm weak and sentimental and nostalgic of better times, I'll leave them with one single star. As I don't really believe in redemption, I think this review will draw the line on a place I once considered the best restaurant in Central Georgia. Sadly, it has very much trended in a downwards direction and it will likely soon fall to the McDonald's level of service and ambiance to which all Central Georgia restaurants seem destined to decline. But below you can find my original review... I see no reason to rewrite history.
Begin old review:
{Traditional Southern food with a modern flair. Reasonably-priced, well-executed dishes that do not attempt all-too-ambitious flavor profiles. Good service. Near the interstate on the quaint Forsyth city square, Grits is worth a slight detour off the beaten path.
In short: good food, good value, good service--all within two miles of the off ramp. It's one of my local favorites--so don't miss...
Read moreNot much to say when it comes to the negatives... It's not even a gripe, but the place is busy so it was difficult to get the manager to congratulate him on what a wonderful experience we had! We're actually coming back for my daughter's birthday... So we get to try something different as tempting as it is to get the same items again! Appetizer was a well played martini glass with grits and ... Oh I can't remember suddenly because it was gone before I knew it... I didn't even know I had enjoyed it that much! And their serving bread was light and purposefully small to literally serve as a teaser for things to come!
The duck... Good Lord, the duck... Drooling again just thinking about it... That was the Pinnacle of my night... That and they make a very good old fashioned if You're in to those higher levels of spiritual beverages. My daughter ordered the scallops which she truly enjoyed! Well prepared and plated perfectly. It was a small birthday celebration for my wife and she had heard great things about it from her friends... The flavoring hit all the right spots because we all tried a little bit and it matched our taste buds perfectly with the amount of seasoning. My wife ordered the red snapper and she truly enjoyed it... But the duck... That was by far unanimously the best entree. We capped off the night with a cookies and cream that we all shared and it was decadent, Delicious, hot and fresh out of the oven with ice cream... I truly can't wait to...
