After many times of ordering takeout from the specific establishment, tonight was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had. I called to order sushi for four people, four different dishes. I was expecting to receive four packages with separate containers where the sushi is individually wrapped so that each person gets their own portion, which has been done every time in my past orders. Instead I was given a catering tray with everything shoved into one tray. After I had ordered my food I explained that there was four people eating and would need four chopsticks, I had to go back into the restaurant after receiving my food to grab chopsticks, napkins, and soy sauce. I got home and realized how disappointed everybody was and called the restaurant to speak with the manager Diana. Her response was to blame everyone and everything except herself and her establishment. Instead of trying to resolve the issue and ask the customer to return and fix the problem, she decided to blame the me and said that they were never told that the sushi was for four people that we wanted it individually wrapped. We originally had the issue because a person ordering separately might have had an allergy and I called to advise the manager that this might be an issue for some and no one asked us of any allergies before deciding to smoosh all of our food into one tray. She then replied and blamed everything on the customer. Asking for the manager I expected a mature person who could handle the situation which is what she should have been trained to do. I am extremely disappointed that the delicious food is now ruined because the manager could not have responded respectfully and kindly. Upon informing her that I was extremely disappointed, she hung up the phone on me. I will never go back and never support this restaurant again. Kaizen, I really hope you take this review into account when...
Read moreKaizen sushi. A simple lunch tease that was aimed to please!
Had lunch with my good friend Doug who is a “Florida Foodie.” Needless to say his recommendation did not disappoint!
I had heard great things about Kaizen Sushi 🍣 on Federal Highway in Ft. Lauderdale. So we took the opportunity to have a light lunch to introduce me to my first experience.
The food 🍱 quality and preparation were excellent.
We started with a tempura 🍤 shrimp & walnuts 🌰 with a creamy sweet champagne 🍾 glaze.m & wasabi drizzle. These shrimps were not over dressed in panko like most others provide. It was a light crisp coating that added the right crunch allowing the shrimp 🦐 flavor to resonate. They were delicious.
We then shared a tempura soft shell crab 🦀 that also offered a similar prep. Resting on a seaweed salad 🥗 , the crab 🦀 was Light, crisp, and flavorful!
We then tried something different. We ordered a flight of a variety of fresh tuna 🍣 sushi. 4 varieties with 2 pieces each. The first was a tasty firm center cut tuna 🍣 , the next was a fatty tuna 🍣 , the third was an extra fatty tuna 🍣 , and the last was tuna 🍣 from the cheek. Each were amazing in their own way and simply prepared garnished only with toasted garlic 🧄 pieces and a lightly flavored oil. Magnificent requiring no soy sauce at all. Pure perfection. I want to point out that each piece was so tender that they literally melted on your tongue. I had never had tuna 🍣 like this before. Ever.
It was enough for lunch but I can tell you the menu is vast with items worthy of exploring. I can’t wait to go back with my wife and daughter this week to expand on my initial tasting tease.
I highly recommend trying Kaizen for yourself. See the menu in my pics. Experience the...
Read moreWow! What an amazing experience I had at Kaizen! I am a sushi lover and I work in the hospitality industry and it’s been a long time since I’ve written a review but this restaurant deserves the praise! The staff were so friendly and owners were so kind, pleasant and guiding us through the menu with ease. My friends and I tried a plethora of items ranging from dumplings to uni! The walnut shrimp were so luscious and the sauce has just enough acid to compliment the creamy components. We then had an Omakase experience with our sushi portion of the dinner. The fish were so fresh! We had aji, shima aji as part of the display and it was so light and fresh! The best thing about the rolls was the amount of rice, it was the perfect ratio to the fish and veggies. I hate it when the rolls are rice heavy. My two favorite things that I ate was the Japanese scallop sashimi which was topped off with ikura and a slight touch of yuzu and it was heavenly. Lastly I finished the meal with Japanese uni sashimi on fried shiso leaf and it was honestly one of the best I’ve eaten in a long time. Honestly I can keep going about the amazing items I ate but you just have to try it for yourself! Can’t wait to come back and have another...
