i have been going here for some of my favorite tacos for over 3 years now... i absolutely love the place... my other half and i are celebrating our 3 yr tomorrow and decided to go to "OUR" taco place tonight for dinner...
$1 tacos are awesome and loaded right??? we get those awesome bags of spicy veggies and green salsa and limes with our order too!!!!
WRONG!!!!!!!!!
we have had a few occasions where our orders were messed up cause we are white and dont speak spanish.. thats fine i get it, so we go in to order since then and speak in person... no problem i can let that slide... the food was good....
today not so much at all. bad service cept for the one nice girl who actually helped us after we seemed to be a bother to the other girl who messed up a simple order and we had to correct it. i guess she didnt like that too much.... we had a very simple order with a lot of tacos but mostly done the same way and same meat(well if there was any meat at all).... we told the first girl 3 times mexican or authentic for the second half of our order,,, the first half being texmex or americanos..... she put them all as american, which we caught on receipt and went in to correct before the got too far into making our order.... anyhow.... she got a bit pissy... our order comes out andi see one taco with literally a pinch of filling... A PINCH???
everytime we get a tray of tacos they are filled to the hilt with meat and toppings which ever style we order... and mounds of cheese that doesnt and cant melt..... NOPE...... here is what we got
a tray full of half filled shells and the shells we found out later eating them are not the usual. they were doughy on the flour side and thicker and not white and fluffy and delicious like before, the corn shells were oily and still doughy and rubbery... THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE! next to no lettuce or onions and a pinch of meat in the middle of each shell..... her honduran had one bite of meat in the middle of it and the rest was all crusty fried shell... the containers for the salsa have been reduced to half size..... and we got charged for the baggies of veggies we love so so much and salsa and limes.... THIS HAS NEVER happened before... and the first girl didnt like us asking for 4 bags of veggies and 10 salsas and lime etc... she walked away bothered and then we got the nice girl to help us..... she said we have to pay now for the extras which for 4 yrs almost have always come with our orders..... in fact she turned to ask the mustache man how much as if she didnt know... so we are coming to the conclusion this is a new owner or new management.... but with the amount of things wrong tonight we are thinking perhaps there is a new owner being cheap and cutting corners on fillings and ingredients....
little cheese diff lettuce unfilled nasty shells pinch of meat next to no tomatoes or cilantro n onions cilantro is now chopped and was turning color when before was fresh and leafy and pulled not chopped. changed green salsa in smaller containers rubbery shells bad service
and being cheap all around it seems... if its a new owner he is horrible if manager fire him and go back to whats great.. we will eat here one more time to try and see if this was a freak incident... we also noticed the place was empty and is usually packed on tuesdays and with lines for food to go and packed dining room..... is this all why?
as of now we are very disappointed in our favorite taco spot in lauderdale, and i was very angry upon finally getting home to eat...
they are ruining what was an awesome place.:( if anyone else has noticed this please comment... and if you work there get rid of the new person or ppl ruining things... im sure i forgot something in this cause so...
Read moreLas Carnitas Latin Food in Davie is an absolute treasure! From the moment we stepped inside, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by Tony, the owner, and his amazing team. Their hospitality is just as unforgettable as the food, and you can tell this place is run with passion and care.
We kicked things off with a glass of wine and a refreshing horchata, which were perfect complements to the vibrant Latin flavors ahead. The fries with cilantro sauce were addictively good: crispy, golden, and bursting with fresh flavor. The carne asada was tender and juicy, served with sweet plantain chips and a crisp salad that tied everything together beautifully. The seafood platter was another standout with generous portions of shrimp, fish, and calamari, seasoned just right and cooked to perfection.
The desserts were the perfect finale: the tres leches cake was moist and creamy, and the flan had that smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture with just the right touch of caramel.
One thing that really sets Las Carnitas apart is the atmosphere. The space is filled with multiple screens, making it the perfect spot to catch any sporting event while enjoying a great meal. Plus, there's always lively music in the background that adds to the festive, welcoming vibe.
Tony and his team make you feel like part of the family, and the food speaks for itself. Whether you're in the mood for a relaxed dinner, a night out with friends, or a spot to watch the game, Las Carnitas Latin Food is the place to be. I loved it so much that I took chicken soup, tacos, and a traditional Honduran baleada home for dinner. Can't...
Read moreI haven't visited South Florida in years, but the last time I did, one of the favorite foods I tried was a Baleada. Soo, upon my return, I asked SEVERAL people where to find the best Baleada in town. Oddly enough, the restaurant the recommended, Adelita Cafe is CLOSED. The 2nd most popular place seemed to be Las Carnitas so we decided to try it. I'm not big on what a place looks like from the outside as long as what's inside is up to par. Upon entering we were not greeted, but I chalked that up to the possible language barrier until I realized some spoke PERFECT English. After sitting around for about 5-7 minutes, I approached the counter and ordered 2 Baleadas Con Carne. After about 15 additional minutes and noticing other customers that entered after us having been served, I approached the counter and inquired about my food. Now all of a sudden, everyone is speaking Spanish. Needless to say, my order had NEVER been put in. As I turned to leave, a young English speaking male said, "Wait, they'll be up in a minute". At this point I was heated and had loss my appetite. I can't honestly say if the food is good or not because I never got it. But I can tell you the service is HORRIBLE and I will NEVER enter their doors again. Adios, Las...
