I've only been here twice. The first time was absolutely spectacular in both service and food quality. However yesterday, when I brought my family to what I had hoped would be a repeat of the first time, it turned out to be quite the opposite. Our server, although very polite, neglected our table, after the appetizers, half an hour delay between appetizer and main course without a single check-in or update on the order or offer for refills and it wasn't busy, there were multiple open table (the ginger male server was more attentive to our table in her absence). As for the food, everything was delicious up until the main course, classic Burger, haddock sandwich, and fish and chips. On my first visit I had the fish and chips, three huge pieces, beer battered, moist pieces of haddock - this time, thin pieces of who knows what fish, extremely dry w breading that didn't even resemble breading, just grease soaked, I left two of the three pieces, my guest ate the third, even the french fries were hard, the same goes for the blackened haddock sandwich was simply some Cajun spicing sprinkled on hard, dry, thin, mystery fish (I love fish, some of my favorites are halibut and hake, and know how they should be cooked, and how they should taste - yesterday was a letdown). the burger was okay, my guest's comment was "Flannigan's is better just has no outdoor space. The one thing that was consistently good in my two visits was the French onion soup. I may give the place a third try, because it's a cute spot that is close to home, but I will definitely sit on the other half of the patio where the young lady with the curly hair...
Read moreTucked away neatly in a shady, secluded, romantic cove you'll find a restaurant with great atmosphere and dockside seating. The temperature is just right with fans keeping it cool for outdoors. But, there's indoor seating as well. The top shelf bar has everything imaginable and the food is of the highest and best quality.
This is a place that you can dress elegantly or casual and still fit in perfectly. Seafood is fresh daily. Prices are reasonable. Service is spectacular. A Caymus Cab and Grouper Picatta with a Stone crab appetizer is just what the doctor ordered. King crab, lobster and libations are staples. A stacked specials menu throws this place over the top... C'mon, Chef, scallop lollipops?!
There's no wait, not bustling, just well placed full seating. And, they take reservations. Overall, it's probably the best seafood restaurant I've been to in South Florida. If I was forced to pick a critique, which I gladly will since I'm a pain in the drain, I would ask for a better fork. My fork was so cheap I felt like I could bend it with my eyes (Matrix reference). But, you can bring your own if you're like me. Do not let the fork deter you from finding your "go to" restaurant on Marina Mile. Rendezvous is a rare gem worthy of...
Read moreWe always love to have seafood while on vacation and glad this restaurant came up as an option in Fort Lauderdale. It was a rainy day and we did not sit outside facing the marina, but it seems like a good spot to do so.
It is close to the I-95 overpass, so you have to make sure you pay attention for the street to turn. Also, you have to go all the way to the back to the marina and it shares the location with the restaurant.
We were greeted by the hostess and sat right away. We decided to stay inside and it worked out well. It is a bit small inside with a bar in the middle. It is cozy, nicely decorated and welcoming.
Chris our server was friendly, funny, answered our questions and made good suggestions.
We ordered the New Englad Clam Chowder, the Octopus Appetizer (special), the Conch Platter (amazed to have pieces of conch and not a big fried ball of dough!) and the Whole Stuffed Florida Lobster (special). Everything was fresh, made to order, tasty, flavorful, good portions and delicious! The lobster was sweet and cooked well, the garlic bread yummy, the black beans and rice tasty and the rosemary potatoes great.
We enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back when we come back...
