Austos Family Italian — Restaurant in Fort Madison

My wife and I had just crossed the swing bridge into Ft. Madison, Iowa and this little Ma/Pa restaurant named Austos, which is a nod to a son of theirs was just across the intersection and on the left. We were hungry, so we stopped. This is a great place for food!!! We are less into franchises and more into this type of eatery! We ordered some chicken and an Austos pizza in pan crust. We loved the chicken with garlic butter sauce and the cheesy fries, that we wolfed it down and when the pizza came, dug into that when we finally got to the point that we NEED to make a great review for this place!!! I got a picture of part of the pizza, sadly the first dish didn't last long enough. We found a new favorite! It was all hand made from great recipes and a lot of experience from this couple/cooks. First time I went there, had the spaghetti in a bowl it had cheese with a generous amount of marinara sauce

Just went there 1 hour before they closed, they said 30 minutes. I arrived in 30 minutes, get home food is so cold and the spaghetti had little to no marinara sauce in it... called back immediately they closed in about 15 mins from when I called.... No answer.

Not going back here again, what a joke. Ordered the Large Pizza Special and it was 8.99 and Spaghetti and ended up being $22 for something I ended up feeding to my 3 dogs.

Pizza seemed like it's been sitting there for hours, how does a pizza look so solidified after arriving on time, unbelievable.

Ordered delivery, a large pan specialty pizza half taco half All Madden with mushrooms and a order of cheesesticks. After an hour they called and had made a mistake and made a pan pepperoni. Remaking our pizza and would give us the pepperoni one, fair enough. When order arrived, got large pan pepperoni as they said, other pizza was a large original crust taco. Did not get cheesesticks. So paid for large pan specialty pizza and cheese sticks but really only got a half pizza of what we wanted. As for taste, taco was ok, crust kinda crackery. Pepperoni pan was not a true pan pizza dough but appeared more an original with double crust (does make a difference) and the cheese seemed off. All in all not impressed.
