My wife and I were passing through Ft. Madison as part of a trip around Iowa (long story). We decided to spend the night at the Kingsley Inn, and asked for a referral for someplace to eat on a Saturday. One of the recommendations was Simple Table, so we said - Ok, let's give it a try! I'm sure glad we did.
This charming, intimate dining experience was worth the stop in Fort Madison by itself (there are other reasons to go there too though, so please visit FM). The food was unique, tasty and filling. I enjoyed an Iowa pork chop with carrots & peanuts, along with a corn bisque; everything was perfect!
The couple that owns this wonderful restaurant has quite a story behind their success, so I urge you to ask about it. I look forward to traveling through FM again someday and when I do, I will be stopping at this...

In warmer weather there's outdoor seating. Definitely try the fresh squeezed juices! They also serve a great Japanese Plum Wine and sake.
