My husband saw videos on Instagram and wanted to try this restaurant.
I looooved the vibe, it was very welcoming. The decor is spot on (simply elegant) As soon as we walked in we were welcomed and gave our names to the waiting list to be seated.
ALL staff were helping with intake, which was great!!! It wasn’t the responsibility of one person.
We were seated after a short wait and I will say that the chairs aren’t the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in. The table and chair’s height seemed “off” to me almost as if I felt like I was bending over to eat. Just wasn’t that comfortable.
Our waitress was very nice and she did an amazing job. (Three stars didn’t come from the service or the atmosphere; it came from the quality of food I personally received) I ordered the Cesar salad +chicken. The Cesar salad was $10 (+chicken was $5) so my CESAR SALAD was $15
My husband ordered “The Grit” +salmon Now, why the 3 stars? My Cesar salad was made with romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, tomato 🍅, croutons and a house made Cesar dressing….., the lettuce was pretty bad.. not bad as in rotten, but my salad consisted of the back end of the lettuce.. nothing leafy about it. Every bite was bitter and crunchy. No, I didn’t say anything to the waitress because I just didn’t want to be that person. I ate the chicken and The best pieces of lettuce 🥬 in the bowl that I could find.. I ate the croutons and cheese too.
The owner/manager, did stop by at the end of our meal and asked how everything was I said it was “alright “ she said, are you sure, I’m one of the owners…(I guess she could see the look on my face) I told her about the quality of lettuce; even picked up a piece to show her.. she did offer to make me a new one but I declined the offer as i was satisfied from what little I did eat.
My husband enjoyed his choice and I will admit that it looked good.. I should have ordered “The Savory “ like I started to order.. the salad was pretty disappointing and the cost for what I got was a bit crazy to me… that amount (size of salad) and QUALITY shouldn’t be that much money.. the Cesar salad looks ok in the picture but under the chicken is quite disappointing.
It just made me sad because I was really excited to try this place.
I chose the salad because I’m currently on a diet to lose a few pounds.. I really wanted to try “the bird box” (or something like that) but I couldn’t. I’m not sure about going back again… maybe but I made the drive from Charlotte deliberately for this restaurant yesterday… I probably wouldn’t go unless...
Read morePoppyseed Kitchen in Fort Mill is a true hidden gem. We went to celebrate a birthday, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. Their waitlist app made call-ahead seating simple, so we didn’t have to stress about reservations or waiting too long.
What really sets this place apart is the people behind it. The owners are incredibly dedicated and talented, and it shows in everything they do. One of them is the pastry chef, and the attention to detail in every dish is clear—from the perfectly flaky Nutella “Pop-Tart” to the warm, buttery Cinnamon Swirl pastry. They take pride in sourcing local, seasonal ingredients, and their menu changes every few months, which keeps things fresh and exciting.
The brigade-style service in the front of the house stood out—it’s rare to see a team this well-organized, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The food was just as impressive. We had the “dip you dip,” a Monte Cristo, Chicken & Waffles, their “Savory Toast,” and the “Ranch Hash” with braised brisket. Every dish was spot-on, but the brisket hash was easily the highlight for me—rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it just as perfect for celebrating a special occasion as it is for grabbing brunch with friends. You can feel the passion and hard work that goes into making this place special. Supporting local businesses like Poppyseed Kitchen isn’t just about good food—it’s about backing talented chefs and teams who truly love what they do.
We’ll definitely be back to try more of their menu, and I can’t recommend this place enough to anyone looking for great food, great people, and an all-around exceptional...
Read moreI discovered this restaurant at a local event for Fit4Mom before they opened, the pastries they brought were amazing, and I knew I’d have to go when they officially opened. Hands down this is one of the best breakfast/brunch spots in the area that I’ve been to. The environment was so cute, well kept, decorated so simple yet elegant- the booths even have purse/bag hooks which is such a nice touch. I went with my husband and 1 year old and had such a good experience my husband has really high standards for food and when we left he said “this is probably the best breakfast I’ve had since I lived in Italy several years ago” I got the market vegetable which was the perfect option for someone like me who likes to eat relatively clean but not weird stuff like most restaurants have- it was perfection it was a goat cheese spread with well seasoned butternut squash and Pepitas, arugula and sourdough. My husband had a classic breakfast and his eggs were cooked flawlessly, his country sausage was perfectly cooked and sliced and he said the potatoes were the best he’s had in 5 years and “done perfectly” because they were seasoned well and crispy to the right level without being over cooked or oily. The coffee is SO GOOD. I also had a mimosa and I loved the face that the Prosecco was heavy but the orange juice was fresh- the perfect combo. The servers are so nice and helpful and are just the right amount of attentive. Overall this is now my favorite restaurant in the area and even above Charlotte restaurants. You will not regret going AT ALL. My...
