Our server did a good job. The food was terrible. My friend and I both ordered half orders of biscuits and gravy. In addition, she ordered two scrambled eggs add cheese and hash browns. I added one medium egg. We received our food and it was incorrect but we said nothing. She got one scrambled egg no cheese and I received two medium eggs. No big deal. We started eating. My first bite of biscuits and gravy I said, this is very rich, what is that. She was also puzzled with hers as well. My second bite, ”this is not rich this is sweet, very sweet.” She agreed. I tried a third and just could not do it. I ate my one egg I asked for and left all else. I took a bite of her hash browns and instantly realized they were very under cooked in the middle and overcooked on the outside. My company ate about a third or so of her plate and I had the three bits of the worst gravy I've ever had and my one egg. The bill came to 21 and change and we tipsed the server the remainder of 30. Why so much? The server was unable to take my plate off the bill. I requested I speak with whomever is not making the right business decision. Big cook comes out saddles a chair by our table and explains he goes out all the time and doesn't enjoy his meal or like how it tastes and never complains. He says that's how it goes. Sometimes you don't like what you order but you still have to pay for it. I said, buddy I did not eat any of this, three bites and one egg is all that is of this plate. He simply said, sorry I don't know what to tell you. I explained to him once he was done excusing his decision. This biscuits and gravy you have served us is extremely sweet. He says everyone loves it. I told him, she has owned three restaurants and worked many other. I as well have worked many a restaurant and I am an excellent cook as so she is. This is sweet biscuits and gravy and the first time in my life I've ever tasted extremely sweet sausage gravy. I said something is wrong with it. He then informs me he make from scratch everyday. I asked why so sweet, you have to be putting sugar in it. He then tells me not sugar I add maple syrup. Need I say more? Unbelievable... If you'd like me to pop in one morning and teach you how to make sausage gravy correctly, I will do so for an apology, my 9.00 plate refunded as it should have been and one order of the best sausage gravy and biscuits...
Read moreWalked in and was seated right away. Waitress was not very friendly at first. I asked if the pancakes were good and she stated “well it’s the name of the place!” So I ordered them. My husband got an omelette. Food came out and I was so excited bc they looked hot and good. TRIED to cut with a fork and it was a no go! Had to use a knife and it was like chewing a piece of rubber. Had to drink water to get it down. I was too scared to complain bc the people looked the type to, well you know! My husband tasted the pancakes and he said they had no flavor and were chewy! He complained to the waitress and she stated she talked to the manager and she didn’t come to our table or anything and didn’t comp the pancakes. When I asked her what the managers name was she didn’t even know! Her name is Stacy. Stacy is the manager. I love supporting local businesses, but this place is not worth supporting. They charge a 3% surcharge that we were not aware of if you use a credit card too! Very disappointing. My husband liked his omelet and biscuit. Prices are HIGH! Too high for the quality and quantity of food. I...
Read moreIt seems like it's harder and harder to find small, quaint and friendly breakfast places that are competing with larger chains. So we decided to check out the island pancake House on a rainy Saturday morning. The Island Pancake House has very cute murals painted by a local artist with unique decor on the walls that make it welcoming and homie. The menu has a lot of diverse choices for breakfast and lunch items. The waitresses are very nice and friendly. One drawback is that they do not have a liquor license so if you wanted mimosas you out of luck. Yet the portion size of three pancakes was huge! I could not eat all three pancakes. Unfortunately the blueberry pancakes were disappointing as there were only fortify blueberries in a very large pancake so it was not a lot of blueberries for what you would expect in a blueberry pancake. The corned beef hash was shredded potatoes and beef which was different but tasty. I would definitely go for breakfast again. Prices were reasonable, atmosphere was very nice and welcoming but skip the...
