So let me just start by saying I know that mistakes can happen but at the end of it all customer service is of utmost importance. I visited the establishment mainly to purchase Roti skins but decided to try the doubles. I bought three as it was my daughter, my husband and I. We waited awhile but I assumed that they had to prepare the order on the spot which is a good thing. After getting the order we proceeded to go to our vehicle which was parked outside of the building. My husband took out one of the doubles and took a bite, he soon realized that it had no pepper and was my daughter’s. I took it from him and opened it to start feeding her, as I dipped I found a hair. I went back in to the shop to inform them, I was very quiet because there was a customer waiting. To my amazement, the female who attended (the daughter of the owner I assume) decided to tell me that there is no way the hair came from them because the guy (the son of the owner I assume) prepared it. It’s when she told me she doesn’t know what to do was when I got upset. Opened the doubles and pulled out the hair to show her because guess what? I am mixed and my hair is both colored and curly. My daughter’s hair is course and was braided. The hair was straight and black which obviously is an Indian hair that had to come from within. My issue is how she handled the situation, mistakes happen. Although you have a hat on, the hair could have been stuck to your clothes. The guy wrapped the doubles but who made the channa? You and another woman can be seen in the back with the same exact hair type. The guy came out and again and confirmed the hair was not there when he wrapped it. Do you scrimmage through the channa before you put in in the bara? He asked if I wanted a refund which was obvious at that point. I left the bag and left the establishment. However we had to dispute the charge because the refund was not issued. I’m not one to review but this was warranted because I see the responses to the non 5 star ratings here, it’s written with attitude. I am from the Caribbean and I can see the difference with the American businesses and Caribbean businesses. I’ll just say that. No need...
Read moreNo this is NOT the best Guyanese food ..... Maybe for out here? Maybe My take is that this food is mediocre/ not even close to good. My orders was to go order the chicken dish has tiny pieces of chicken, tiny pieces of goat lots of bones, shrimp also was not enough for the price you guys are charging...all said there was not enough protein/meat in all dishes [1] all foods too greasey/ too much oil... [2] over priced on dishes... [3] beef,chicken,goat,fish/shrimp is fairly cheap here in the United States... Stop acting like it's luxury and it's not even organic chicken or goat or wild cough shrimp so please... Get a grip and elevate your standard to a US standard.... And maybe this place will have more than Guyanese or west Indian coming to the restaurant.. And maybe you should put the word ( RESTAURANT)...
Read moreBeing married to a West-Indian, I've had my share of Curry, my favorite is lamb. I will eat Chicken Curry, but only if my first choice is not available. That was the case tonight at Dru's, and I must say, I'm glad they didn't have the lamb. The Chicken Curry was remarkably delicious! When I go back, I'll gladly have it again. 😋
Items ordered: •Chicken Curry With Roti •Aloo Bake •Doubles •Bake & Salt Fish •Dhal •Chicken Fried Rice
To sum it up, all the items we ordered were delicious. The service was friendly and the speed was not too bad, considering they were short-handed. The prices were more than reasonable and the food was SCRUMPTIOUS!
I give the overall experience 5 out of 5 stars and a BIG 5 for the Chicken Curry!
You MUST try this place!
