Harps Bakery — Restaurant in Fort Smith

5/18/24 I ordered a red velvet cake with chocolate frosting chocolate drip and chocolate covered strawberries and I was sadly disappointed. It's been a while since I have ordered a cake from this harps but it was amazing when I last did, very moist with a delicious flavor, today was a big bummer it had such a dry crumb I felt like you needed to drink milk to get it down your throat, the strawberries were way too far on the edge with the large icing border so it started collapsing the icing and cracking the dry cake. Which in all honesty I was able to fix it fine, that specifically wasn't a big deal. The people upfront I kind of felt bad because they looked like they wanted to be anywhere else then there dealing with costumers. Which they could have had an absolute full schedule because of graduation time, still you can at least fake enough to put a half smile on your face not all customers are awful. I went up there with a smile and thanked them and left. I know it's still a supermarket cake so it's not like it is the best of the best I was just bummed because I have had a lot better at the same place. If you order a custom made cake, you’ll probably be fine. But, if you buy desserts out of their bakery case, they aren’t fresh & taste like they’ve been sitting there for several days, at least. We stopped by a few days ago & bought a variety of items- a slice of carrot cake, a slice of strawberry cake, a cannoli, & 6 dessert/mousse cups (not sure exactly what those are called) in a variety of flavors for $50. The price wouldn’t be an issue if the desserts were fresh & tasty, but they definitely weren’t fresh and had been out for a while.
