Went in for lunch on a Sunday. Got seated quickly, ordered drinks and an appetizer. Ordered our meals. Waited around 20-25 minutes for our meals. When the girl, not our waitress, brought out our food she informed us that they didn't have any baked potatoes, that there would be a 20 minute wait. Asked if we wanted to wait or order a different side. I said 20 minutes from now or 20 minutes from when we ordered our meal? Of course it was 20 minutes from now! Mind you our steaks are already sitting in front of us. My husband asked for mashed potatoes, I asked for rice. Then about 5 minutes later our waitress came along and asked what we wanted to do about the sides. I told her we already told the other girl. She said "well she didn't tell me'. So again we ordered mashed potatoes and rice, and the mushrooms that should have been on my steak. She came back with mashed potatoes and mushrooms and informed me that they were also out of rice. By this time I was very irritated, told her I was fine, didn't want a different side. We ate our meal and were very unimpressed, it was not the best meal I've ever gotten from a Texas Roadhouse. The steak was dry and the shrimp and sauteed mushrooms were over seasoned and salty. The green beans were cold, mushy and swimming in juice. At the end the waitress came over to give us our bill and said her manager did take off the upcharge for the loaded baked potato I never got! How kind! I said so I'm paying full price even though I didn't get a full meal? She said "well we offered you a different side". I said well when you bring my meal out after 20 minutes, that's not when I want to sit and try and decide what I want to order with the steak that's sitting here getting cold. You should have told us you were out of baked potatoes the minute you knew you were out of baked potatoes, not when the rest of my meal was done! She said the servers didn't know they were out of baked potatoes or rice. So they're just running around taking orders for stuff that they don't even have? The kitchen staff doesn't inform the servers when they don't have something? And for them to be so gracious as to take off the upcharge for something I never got? Like she was doing me a favor? I will definitely avoid this Roadhouse in the future. And I'll note that this was like 11:30 on a Sunday, and they aren't prepared to serve items that are on their menu? While the people who got their food right before us got baked potatoes? This was handled very poorly by the staff in my opinion. Will not be back to this location ever. They don't deserve a second...
Read moreWe went to this location to celebrate my grandfather and son's birthdays. They were born on the same day, 85 years apart. So it's a special occasion every year. This year my grandpa turned 92 and my son turned 7. We had a couple giftcards to use so we went to Roadhouse off Rogers Ave in Fort Smith, Ar.
A couple days prior to our visit I called and asked if we could do a reservation since we had a party of about 10 people. I was told that they don't do reservations but if we got there early enough in the day it shouldn't be a problem to get us seated.
We arrive 30 minutes after they open. We're told it will be a 30-45 minute wait because they don't have servers that can take 10 people. We decide to wait it out but they never offered us a place to sit. We have to find a stool that my grandparents can sit on while they wait. In the meantime, more people are arriving in groups of 2-4 people and they are immediately seated. I'm unclear how they can seat 10-15 individuals but not our party of 10? I decided to take my two small children and wait outside. The music was so loud that we basically had to shout over each other and they didn't have the heaters turned on. It was 36 degrees that day and rainy.
After about 45 minutes of not being seated, we decided to leave. The young man at the podium said they were still waiting on enough staff to seat us.
We were all really put out by the lack of awareness this location showed. I've booked reservations multiple times at Roadhouses in Northwest Arkansas/Tulsa. Why will Fort Smith not take reservations? Also being forced to sit outside in the cold, wet weather with no heater was disappointing. The inside of this location has nowhere to sit while waiting for a table, so you'd think they would stay aware of the weather conditions outside since this is the only place their guests can sit.
Overall, this made for a really terrible experience. Not to be too dramatic but my grandpa is 92! We really don't know how many more birthdays we will get with him so each one is special. This Roadhouse location soured the first half of their birthday experience. Luckily, we found another restaurant that took us in immediately and even made sure the chair my grandpa had was comfortable. He is a disabled vet that put his life on the line for our country. I really think he deserves the best, especially at the tail end of his life. I'm glad we were able to find something that worked out better, because Texas Roadhouse in Fort Smith, Ar. was...
Read moreA country restaurant with a vast menu and welcoming people? Yes, please.
Texas Roadhouse is one of my favorite places I've ever been to, but I won't come back for a while. Firstly, I'll start with the food. Along with me, my family all said this was the best country meal experience they've ever had. As for me, easily a five. I got a chicken breast with bacon mashed potatoes. The meat was seasoned to perfection, very tender, and grilled incredibly. Then, the mashed potatoes. Man, with the butter, freshness of the potatoes, and the little bits of cooked bacon, you can tell these are homemade. In all, you can tell food is made with effort, and it's dang good!
Secondly we got the service. I understand this place being packed, but the wait time was a little ridiculous. It took about an hour to get our food. For a place like this, the wait is worth it, but an hour is still a bit unpleasant for the consumer.
Third, the atmosphere is very welcoming. You come in here and expect a country vibe you get. Waiters with cowboy hats, Texas sports, or just sports playing, and of course, they got that bar. The only problem is that some of the waiters can get a little rude sometimes, so that brings it down a star, but it's a great vibe, as the youngins say.
Last but not least, the price was ridiculous. I could understand 90 dollars for 5 people, but our total was 130 dollars. That's an average of 26 dollars per meal! In my opinion, at least, that's wayy too much to be enjoyed regularly. In other words, I hate the price.
In conclusion, the food is unbeatable, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. However, the ridiculous price and partly delayed service really hold this place back. I would give 3.5 stars, but I have to round, so I say 3. But don't get me wrong, I would still recommend it if they fix...
