There are not many restaurants in Fort Smith open this late, and it is a huge plus not to have to do a drive-through or pizza delivery after 9 pm, and thats a big positive. Per the reviews, I was greatly looking forward to JJ's, but it left some lacking on both food and service. With 24 people in the establishment and 6'ish waitresses, they should have been spot-on for service, but it wasn't. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't what it should have been under the conditions, either.
I ordered fish and chips (with "Chipotle tarter sauce"). The fish was way overcooked. It was edible, but barely. No malted vinegar was available. Fries were super soggy/greasy and barely edible. Chipotle tarter tasted like any spicy remulade, and while this sounded good when I was ordering, it was not a good fit for fish and chips when eating. It felt like "we have this sauce" for fried pickles and 6 other things, and it will work for this...but it didn't. My dates salmon was acceptable, but not "stand out".
Her salad took forever to come out, only 3-4 minutes before the entree. I can see why JJ's is hit or miss on reviews. I think some better management could make this place a smash hit home run!!. BTW, I'm not sure if they made the "tablespoon" of coleslaw I got (literally that much), but it was great!! Perfect blend of texture, sweet, vinegar, etc.
I think I'd have felt better if the food was a little better and the service was a little better, even if not perfect. I left feeling like we paid too much for what we got. Mediocre food and mediocre service should equal mediocre price. May try it again to see if this was a "one off" but not...
Read moreWe had to wait over an hour to get seated, but they were pretty busy. We waited out on the patio, and staff kept coming and frequently checking on us. The staff were all very nice! The live music was great, Git in the Truck was the band playing, and they are hopefully regulars! The food was great, my husband LOVED the salmon and the Bad Jack burger with the cream cheese and the pepper jelly is phenomenal. The only issue I had was it took almost an hour to get our food and during that time I didn't get refills, even though I asked several different staff when they asked if we needed anything. My husband's beer kept getting refilled but my soda wasn't as important, I'm assuming since we didn't pay by the glass like for his beer. I went to the bar and the bar tender refilled it, and then the waitress finally brought the refill I'd asked for...with our check. I still highly recommend this place, but know the best way to get your refill is to just go to the bar and get it. They have a pool table, and they did a great job keeping the facility clean. The outdoor area is covered and had a propane heater. The restrooms are small and hard to get to (the pool table is between the dining area and the restrooms and everyone back there was drunk and congregating near the doors) but were very clean with sensor flush toilets. Before tip is was $70 for two of us to eat (I had a burger, 2 sides and a soda, hubs had a soda, 3 beer, salmon and two sides). Try the baked Mac and cheese, you...
Read moreI ate there with my son and two grandson's on the 28th of December. Service was great, food was ok. The only complaint was the 4 burgers we ordered were dry and there was more bun than meat. I ordered onion rings with mine got 4 onion rings come on 4. My son ordered fried mushrooms with his only got 4? My 2 grandson's ordered fries with their burgers and they got so many they were falling out of the baskets plenty of fries good. My youngest grand son wanted chicken nuggets you were out. The tea had no flavor it looked like and tasted like plain sugar, We all ordered Dr Pepper you were out come on guys somebody is not paying attention to the inventory you should not run out of things that sell. One other complaint is the prices I paid $60.00 plus a $ 12.00 tip. I think $60.00 was to much for what we received. I can go to Wendy's or Burger King and get a good burger and sides for less money. I have ate at JJ's in Rogers and Fayetteville over the years and really enjoyed it. This was my first time in Fort Smith. It looks like shrinkflation has hit JJ's less for more money. Very...
