Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

Today we visited Applebee's and our server at the bar was awesome. But there were 2 greeters that seemed more interested in sitting on the butts playing on their phones. Now most people wouldn't think of this but there were things to be done. The money i pay for my food and drinks helps pay their paychecks. It isn't a game changer but it doesn't look good to see employees sitting playing games on Facebook when there was bits of trash on the floor by the entrance and tables that were lined up for a bus load of tennis players that decided not to stay. The manager had to come get these 2 and tell them to go put the row of tables back like they were for individual families. The manager didnt say a word about them sitting doing nothing on the clock. I'm sure corporate wouldn't approve of that. Several times people had to come get them to have them do things when they should have been up and doing these things anyway. They are lazy. When they did get up to seat people you could see they were clueless as to where to seat them because they were not keeping an idea on where to go. Yes business was slow but that is no excuse. You are paid to work. The servers are all making less than them because again business was slow. But the servers stayed busy taking afvantage of the slowness to clean and do things they cant normally do. The greeters...

The greeter was amazing! The server was good, but busy with so many tables. There was only 3 tables taken and it took 25-35 min to get our food during lunch time. The food came out and it was honestly horrible!! This was my first bad experience with Applebee's. The lettuce was Browning and was soggy. I got a quesadilla burger and the tortilla bun was only half toasted and the bottom tortilla bun was soggy. The hamburger tasted like it was frozen and quickly thawed. The fries looked, tasted, and felt like they were fried then cooled then fried again. The food just sucked! It's like they don't go through their food and toss the old food. I feel like they don't label their food with dates like they are supposed to. The place was clean and the host/greeter was amazing but that's the only good things. I wish I would have just went to get fast food and saved my money. I was a servicer, manager, host, cook, and bar tender in my twenties and I know my way around a restaurant and with a big name like Applebee's I expected better. It's a shame but the good news is that it can't be worse then it was today so if I decide to go back it can only be better but I don't know if it's worth the gamble with the average bill for 3 people being...

Wait forever to be seated. Hostess sitting with two men having a chat. Finally seated -another 10’ for a server (loose use of the word) to address us. Ordered meal and drinks at the same time. One glass of water delivered about 5-6’ later…..single beer delivered in about 15’. Never did get a second glass of water. Meal comes and a side of sauce requested …. Never happened. Prompted for our server to bring our check and nothing. Finally see her at a computer with what turned out to be our check…waving it around while talking to a coworker. By this time I am standing looking at them…. Finally walks it to me and again”im sorry”. What a disappointment. food is mediocre-ok but nothing beyond that for sure. Plenty of staff walking around and chatting with coworkers but no time to serve the customers. Certainly not special enough to put up with such bad service. Making it worse you can watch the story unfold… they are very open about their lack of attention to the customer. Would be funny...
