Baba's Steak and Lemonade — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

I've been meaning to try Baba's since it opened nearby, and on Thursday night (12-14-23) , I decided to order through DoorDash around 8PM.

My first mistake was ordering through DoorDash, which is something I'll never do again as my order took longer than expected.

Back when I lived in Chicago, there were tons of gyro shops and it was my favorite late night bite to eat. But I haven't had a gyro in a long time so I ordered the gyro platter.

When I first opened the Styrofoam box, it was a assemble-yourself meal. The meat was placed on top of two slices of pita with the toppings on the side along with two small containers of tzatziki sauce.

The first thing I did was taste the meat plain. The problem was the meat was very dry and somewhat burnt. That added to the fact that the meat was chewy as well. Usually when you get gyros, the meat the sliced straight from the spit onto the pita so you get that "juice," which makes it so good. This meat had no juice. No favor. Almost tasted like the frozen gyro strips you can get from Gordon Food Service.

Of course, everything was lukewarm, though that issue rests directly on DoorDash. When I decide to give Baba's another chance, I won't order the gyro platter but just a single (and hopefully already...

I love babas so much, esspecially the chicken, but I decided to try something new, which was the chicken Philly. I actually did like it, the seasoning was there, perfect amount of cheese. Haven't had Baba's in a few years. Went to the Rudisill location. Fed 6 people.......$84, with only two drinks 😬. A bit pricey, but food is worth it!! Definitely get one of their famous lemonades.
