Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Fort Wayne

After a bike ride with the family down to this local Dairy Queen, I can truly share the fact I have not been this let down since not being picked for dodgeball during 5th grade recess. While trying to place my order, I was informed that they are currently out of chocolate ice cream. How does an ice cream franchise known for ice cream in fact run out? We were told they do have vanilla ice cream if we would like that? I decided to order my blizzard for the first time in my life with lack luster vanilla ice cream. After the family placed their order, 3 people in our group got their orders while two of us had to watch people after us receive their orders first. By some miracle I received my order 20 minutes later and it was not the correct blizzard. After reordering the correct blizzard and receiving that, I had to remind them my daughter who placed her order nearly 30 minutes prior still had not received her order. While the high school kids were all doing their tasks an hour and a half prior to close, perhaps they could be doing the orders, or focusing on what Dairy Queen is supposed to do, and actually make ice cream.

Was here this evening just about 10 minutes ago getting ice cream with my mother in the drive thru. After a long wait when we got to the window and received our first cone, I asked that it be remade as it was severely lopsided and was already starting to drip all over.

The cashier begrudgingly had it remade and then a 2nd worker handed us the cone after she loudly complained that the cone was going to be like that regardless. Obviously didn’t care that we heard. When the second cone was handed to us by a third worker, the gal very nastily told us to have a good night to which I said “you do not have to be rude.”

She then walked away and lifted her arms to flip us off in plain sight.

I get the staffing shortage is very much affecting this location, but if your employees (who all seemed to be catty teenaged girls this evening) cannot handle a customer request without literally giving customers the bird, I’d recommend reconsidering staying...

Unfortunate experience. Their close time is definitely their close time. Regardless of whether or not you are inside or at the drive through, if they close, they will not take any more orders past their close time. Plan to order before closing to ensure you receive what you want.

Personally arrived before their advertised close time only to discover that this specific day their decided operating hours were until 1900. As a result, there would be no service provided as a result of not being able to order prior to 1900, despite being in line at 1856. Google listed their operating hours as open until 1930. The corporate website listed their closing time as 2130.

Subsequently, there is no personal desire to return to this location, as the other locations in town do not conduct business in this manner. They honor those both in the drive through as well as those in line in store prior to their posted...
