I was so proud to see a restaurant with Zacatecas roots so I took my girlfriend here. After my experience, I was embarrassed. Although the food was delicious, this place is managed by inexperienced people that are obviously not reading the feedback from their reviews. We waited 1.5 hours for a seat and then another 30mins for food.
They have signs that say they’re hiring more waitresses and food runners when their waitresses and food runners interacted with us for a maximum of 3 minutes from the moment we ordered to when we left. They need more help in the kitchen to be able to service their clients.
Food comes out like it’s a video game. They bring out one plate at a time and there’s no organization as to the order of which plate they do as they zig zag and fill tables in different orders. I had to wait 7 mins for my girlfriend to receive her meal after I received mine and if you’re anything like me, I was raised to not eat until everyone receives their food at the table.
Please please please focus on managing expectations given your wait times. Hire more help for your kitchen and invest in that kitchen. Bring out a table’s full plates and not skip around. And preferably, ask for payment after one eats their food. It doesn’t feel right to ask for a tip when I place an order after a long wait, it’s very disconnected to the reality the customer is experiencing. Remember many people wait and save all week to try places like yours so for them to experience something like this ends up being the brand your restaurant gets known for.
I’ll give this place a second chance in a couple of years, if it’s still around. Until then,...
Read moreI wanted so much to love this place. I heard great things about it. And the food was really good. The experience, however, was frustrating. They don’t have many spaces and they don’t do a good job of managing seating. They told me the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour. Within 5 minutes someone left and they offered me the table. I had already called my companions to say we would go next door so had to call them back. I am confident they knew those people were leaving. One lady was taking the order a large group at the terminal. I was waiting patiently, standing there. Another man came in and the other server took his order on a portable terminal. I then said as I had been standing and waiting beforehand could she take my order now. She said no and waited until her colleague finished taking the large order and then took my order at the main terminal. I ordered green tamales and my friends ordered chilliquiles. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food. They delivered my friends’ plate and at that time only did they tell me they didn’t have green tamales. At that point I didn’t really have any options so I accepted the red tamales. They brought them to me about 10 minutes later and they were cold. They served plastic cutlery. They have no jalepenos. They have no liquor license. There is a bar next door and they could allow you to bring margaritas from there. But they don’t. It’s...
Read moreThis place lacks consistency. The first photo shows the love and effort that was placed into the plate put together very hearty.
Where as the second photo you can see that they skimped and even looking at the same plate ordered from other reviews it’s clear they lack putting effort into proper portion. Both plates cost 16.99. Both visits are a week apart.
I will say that the first visit was pleasant, good food, cafe de olla and amazing customer service when our waitress attended to us.
The experience was great that we decided to go again only to be disappointed with the lack of customer service, the plates took longer to come out which is not my concern but rather the lack of customer service and rushing us out of our seats by hovering over our table with the credit card reader. While I was still trying to finish my plate and coffee.
Our overall interactions with this waitress was if you don’t ask they won’t provide. Where as our first interaction on our first visit provided us with waters and asked if we wanted additional salsa. Also checking in on us multiple times.
The cafe de olla the second time was not the same, the flavor was off and my cup had a chemical smell to it which threw me off but after several sips was able to...
