I’m not sure where all of the 5 star ratings are coming from because this is definitely not a 5 star restaurant. And I love supporting black business but this is not it..
I was not greeted at all when I came into the restaurant.
There was a buffet advertised but there was no buffet when I arrived. Probably a covid change, but still.
Mary took my order and it seemed like working in that restaurant caused her physical pain. She was so rude. I couldn’t believe how rude she was. She constantly rolled her eyes.
The menu says you get four sides but Mary very rudely informed me that you only get three.
I was fighting flies the whole time I was there AND there were dead flies on the window sill beside the table I was sitting at.
The young girl (nicknamed Nana) was very attentive & polite contrary to Mary. She deserves a raise or a better job.
Not going to lie. the food was sub par at best. The cabbage was ok. The cornbread was burned at the bottom. why? how do you get cornbread wrong… The dressing was weird and it had hamburger meat in it or something. The macaroni and cheese was kinda watery. The potato salad was sad and warm. The chicken fried chicken was bland and undercooked. I can’t remember what else we had. But it was overall a...
Read moreI was told about this place by a friend. I decided to stop in to see what all the hype was about. When I went in, I was greeted politely. The food is pretty good, but I'm a customer service type of guy which is why I gave the number of stars I did. Little quirks is what bothered me the most. I got the kool aid as my drink. I noticed that they filled my drink with just under half of the cup with kool aid then filled it with 3/4 ice, meaning I barely got any koolaid. From the business cost standpoint, good move, but from a consumer standpoint, cheap of them as my money is hard earned. I noticed the older lady apparently knew the two ladies who came in after I did because she spent most of her time speaking to them and providing them with drinknrefills, etc. Nobody ever asked me if I needed anything, or a drink refill, or even water for that matter. I believe the staff could have been more friendly and provided greater customer service. I believe I'll keep going to either Madea's in Everman, or to Sweet Georgia Browns in Dallas. It's a considerably longer driver, but the customer service is worth it in my opinion as compared to what I received at...
Read moreExpensive, mediocre experience.
The chopped beef is DELICIOUS, don't get me wrong, but when I order a sandwich, I expected a sandwich. Not an entire tray of chopped beef with two pieces of white, thin, easily breakable bread. Lol a bun or thicker bread would have handled the meat and sauce better. I was able to go home and make two additional sandwiches for the rest of the chopped beef with the meat I had left over
The beans are good too. Potato salad was lacking on some seasoning. It was kind of bland. For $17 a plate, I won't be back. The sandwich (or shall I say, platter of chopped beef with two pieces of bread sitting on top) itself is $10. That's $3.50 per side added on.
Definitely wanted to support, but it could definitely be better. Kind customer service though. I received plenty extra BBQ sauce...
