One of our favorite sushi places. Normally we have a good experience every time and the waitresses are wonderful. I was very disappointed, however, when I went in to pick up an order once. My 3 year old son and I were waiting for our food. While we were waiting we were making silly faces at each other. He made a silly face and stuck out his tongue, and one of the sushi chefs started lecturing him to not stick out his tongue. I personally didn't think it was a big deal - my son wasn't spitting, he wasn't sticking it out at the sushi chef, just me and it's because we were making faces at each other. So I told my son we weren't going to stick out tongues out anymore. Well the sushi chef kept lecturing my son, telling him it was dirty and people shouldn't stick out their tongues. Then he proceeded to tell my son that if he ever stuck his tongue out again, "mom will come in here and tell me and and I cut out your tongue". I tried laughing and telling my son how silly that was, because my son was visibly upset, but the chef kept insisting that if he stuck out his tongue again, he would cut it out. Then he started lecturing me, saying I shouldn't let my son stick out his tongue. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I felt he went way over the line. Who in their right mind would repeatedly tell a 3 year old they would cut our their tongue? I was very disappointed in the way the sushi chef was...
Read moreFirst time I went to Kobe is when they first opened long ago. I was not impressed and never went back.. Back in those days it was all about Kikuya Sushi Bar on Beach and Adams....long live Toshi and Syinjo!!!! Ok where was I, yes I now love Kobe they have rolls I have not had since Kikuya shut down. Rolls like the M80 roll and the Manhattan roll. Do yourself a favor and pass on the soy sauce with these rolls and use Ponzu Sauce instead. Ok back to the review. Smiley can be rude at first but i dont think he means it. He is top notch, and His Kiwi Roll and Black Pepper Roll is a must try. FYI If your a fan of the M80 it is not made with sharp cheese like it was at Kikuya. They use cream cheese, it's still good but I had to take off a star for the cream cheese it equates to lost potential, lol. All in all definetly don't pass...
Read moreIt's not often that I'm blown away by food places, but wow! I ordered "to go" today. The restaurant does not have a website, which threw me off because I like to view the menu, but I was able to find online photos of the menu so I could call in my order. I tried Combo B with steak and for $10 I got nicely prepared non-fatty beef, rice, shrimp & veggie tempura, 4 piece California roll, salad, and miso soup. Everything was packaged perfectly and the taste was amazing. Staff members were friendly, and they take credit cards. The vibe inside the restaurant was chill and nice, so it would be a good place to dine in, even solo. Everything was great from...
