I went here a lot (for sure won't be anymore) and really like the food here, the taste is good to me that's why I kept going back for lunch almost every week. BUT There are 2 servers here are the problem to me, I know they changed different servers but these 2 have been working there for long time (until now) a skinny guy and a short lady with short silver dye hair. They are very rude all the time, they didn't look happy when my coworkers and I asked them for anything, barely smile to us and I feel like it was a big burden for them to be our servers. I love the food here that's why I didn't really care for months up to the point that today I asked the lady to check on my food because it took a bit long and she was like staring at me, her face was like I'm trying to mess her up or something and answer with a very rude tone "We have only 2 chefs today, okay? You came here last that's why" and I was like (I didn't say it out) "Who cares you have many chef in the kitchen? I just asked can you check on the food if it is ready cuz it's longer than usual." I'm pretty sure this is a very common thing ppl would ask all the time, and I was eating here long enough to know how much time they usually need to prepare the food, it was over 20mins for a stir fried noodles bowl and definitely not usual. And after that she just walked away didn't wait for me to say anything, I got really upset and decided if they're still working there I won't come back.
The guy is a moody guy, if it was his good days you would have no issue ask him for something but still the face was always like I was a homeless trying to ask for food in his restaurant most of the time. There was one time my coworker tried to get his attention for a side dish when he was busy doing other stuffs, he just tried to catch his attention and I see it common, if the waiter is busy just signal customer and come back later, this guy got mad and yelled at my co-worker like he did something very wrong, my co-worker gave up on the restaurant since then. I learned how to get used to it, however this is like the last straw I couldn't stand it anymore so I just point out everything they did here and everywhere I could hopefully the owner would see it and take care of this , it's really a pain in the butt when you love the food but something else really bothers you not to have a good lunch, I won't come back til they're gone or at least changed...
Read moreI'm a huge fan of Sushi on Fire, so I was surprised how far this restaurant fell from being "good." I ordered the salmon curry (since it said it came with a salmon filet, and since I liked a picture someone posted of their salmon curry 2 years ago). The salmon I received looked nothing like the picture, and was NOT a salmon filet; it was mostly bones. It also tasted "fishy" in some bites (which I never usually experience with salmon).
Several minutes after I had ordered, the waitress asked if it was ok if they gave me the part of the salmon near the cheeks. I said,"I don't like dealing with bones, so I was hoping for the filet." I also asked if they could cook the salmon "medium," so it wasn't dried out.
What came out was very little salmon, barely edible, and with lots of bones (NOT a filet). It was the most dry and overcooked salmon I've ever had in my life! I had to chew it very carefully, since it kept feeling like it would get stuck in my throat from being so hard and dry.
The steamed vegetables were fine, but the panang was the most sugary tasting panang I've ever had - without the depth of flavor I've had at all the many other Thai restaurants I've tried. It was way too sweet - like a dessert. Even the Pad Thai was sweeter than normal Pad Thai.
I was shocked, since I've been a huge fan of Sushi on Fire for YEARS - so I expected the same high quality of their brand (which this CLEARLY was NOT). I celebrate my birthday at Sushi On Fire EVERY year. I love Thai food, and was excited to support them in trying this restaurant. Sadly, it was the worst Thai food I've ever had.
For their sake, I'm hoping they were short staffed, or had new chefs, or some strange extenuating circumstances. That must (?) be true, since they have 4.5 star reviews. So I'm glad to see that others had a much better experience than I did....
Read moreFriends from Garden Grove recommended this restaurant to me, so I decided to try it with a visiting friend. First, I noticed the cute outside area, which has seating when it's not winter. We entered the restaurant and were immediately greeted and seated at the back by some lovely wall decor. The table was clean with protective paper and dining sets. Our server Ryan was polite and kindly provided recommendations from the menu, along with waters with lemon and beer. We ordered the crab cheese wontons to start, and they were delicious! The wontons were crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, and paired perfectly with the sweet and sour sauce. For entrées, I got the spicy basil shrimp pasta and my friend got the grilled salmon with yellow curry and rice. The spaghetti noodles were coated in chili and oil with fresh pepper slices and a generous serving of finely chopped shrimp bits. The curry was salty with just the right amount of spice to go with the soft salmon chunks. Finally, we finished our meal with a scoop of high quality vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, which really hit the spot. Nikki, the owner of the restaurant, came by constantly to refill our waters and ask if we needed anything else. Excellent food and service, plus lively K-pop music! I had a great experience and will definitely be coming back here to try...
