My family and I visited the Vox Kitchen recently and I was very impressed by their food and service. They are opening a space next door for business while remodeling the old space, which shows how popular they are. The new space has a bigger kitchen and a cozy dining area.
The food was amazing, with fresh ingredients and creative flavors. I ordered the garlic noodles with grilled shrimp, which came with a green sauce on the side. The noodles were thick and chewy, the shrimp were juicy and tender, and the sauce was tangy and spicy. It was a perfect combination of textures and tastes. The portion was generous and I was full after finishing it.
My family ordered the Saltado shaken fries house special, which was a Vox Kitchen signature dish of french fries, grilled ribeye steak, white rice, and sliced tomatoes. The fries were crispy and seasoned with herbs, the steak was tender and flavorful, the rice was fluffy and fragrant, and the tomatoes added some freshness. The dish also came with a green sauce that tasted like a chimichurri or a chermoula sauce, which added some zing and brightness to the dish. It was a hearty and satisfying meal that we all enjoyed.
We also ordered the spicy shrimp wontons, which were Chinese-inspired dumplings filled with shrimp, water chestnuts, soy sauce, spring onions, and coriander. The wontons were plump and juicy, and the spicy Sichuan sauce was savory and fiery. The dish also came with some chopped peanuts and cilantro for some crunch and freshness. It was a mouthwatering appetizer that we all loved.
We also ordered the bone-in short rib soup, which was Korean-inspired soup made with beef ribs, potatoes, enoki mushrooms, glass noodles, a slow poached egg, and green onions in a clear but flavorful broth. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the potatoes were soft and creamy, the mushrooms were delicate and earthy, the noodles were slippery and smooth, and the egg was runny and rich. The broth was light but hearty, with a hint of sweetness from the ribs. It was a warm and comforting meal that we all enjoyed.
The drinks were also good and some of them came with free refills. We tried the lychee lemonade, which was a refreshing blend of lemon juice, lychee juice, sugar, and water. It was sweet and sour, with a floral note from the lychees. It came in a tall glass with ice cubes and a slice of lemon as a garnish, which made it look very appealing.
We also tried the mango dragonfruit iced tea, which was a tropical blend of black tea, mango puree, dragonfruit puree, sugar, and water. It was fruity and refreshing, with a vibrant color from the dragonfruit. It came in a tall glass with ice cubes and a sprig of mint as a garnish, which made it look very appealing.
The service was friendly and attentive. The staff were helpful and courteous, and they checked on us frequently.
I would definitely recommend the Vox Kitchen to anyone who loves Asian fusion cuisine. They have a variety of dishes to suit different preferences, from noodles and rice to salads and wings. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The atmosphere is casual and inviting. It's a great place to enjoy a meal with...
Read moreI’ve been coming here since 2017. Out of all the Kei Concept restaurants, this is my favorite.
Parking: They’re located in a big plaza with plenty of free parking.
Ambiance/Environment: My cousins and I visited on a Sunday afternoon. This place is always poppin, so there was a bit of a wait. You can place your name on the waitlist when you get there, but I recommend joining the waitlist through Yelp. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Large space and very clean.
Service: Shout out to our server Long Tran! He took great care of us. But I will say, ALL the servers here are quick, efficient, and courteous.
Everything we ordered: We dined for 4 in total. Between the each of us, we all shared our dishes.
Spicy Chicken Wontons - These wontons were flavorful and huge but wasn’t spicy. For its price, I’d prefer a couple more pieces.
Truffle Fries - I always order these when I visit. These are my favorite appetizers. The truffle flavor does not disappoint.
Bacon Brussel Sprouts - The Brussels were seared perfectly. It was topped off with a generous amount of pork sung but a few bacon pieces. We didn’t know where the egg was until we found it at the bottom after eating all the Brussels lol.
Chifa Fried Rice with Chicken Thigh - I ordered this. The chicken thighs were big and cooked well. The green sauce is my favorite, so I poured that everywhere. The fried rice was also delicious.
Saltado Shaken Fries with Filet Mignon - My cousin ordered this. I took a bite of the filet mignon with some fries. It’s exactly how I remembered it. The perfect sweet and savory dish. My cousin really enjoyed this dish.
House Garlic Noodles with Ribeye Steak - My partner ordered this. I noticed the garlic noodles were different. Still tasted good. The ribeye steak was cooked med rare, and it was delicious. He also drenched everything in the green sauce which gave it extra flavor.
House Garlic Noodles with Shaken Salmon - My other cousin ordered this. Long T. recommended to order the salmon extra crispy. I didn’t get to try this because my cousin devoured everything, so I’m assuming he really enjoyed this lol.
Drinks: Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Hojicha Iced Tea, Lychee Lemonade, and Mango Dragonfruit. Each of us loved our drinks! The Viet coffee was definitely strong, not as sweet. I was afraid the hojicha was watered down, but it was surprisingly the opposite. The mango & lychee drinks were refreshing.
Pricing: I noticed prices increased $$$ dramatically. Can’t blame them, especially in this inflated economy. We loved everything, so we’ll definitely come back (once...
Read moreIf you're looking for a culinary experience that marries exceptional value with high-quality, almost authentically Peruvian flavors, Vox on Brookhurst Street in Fountain Valley is an absolute must-visit. My recent dining experience there was nothing short of outstanding, and I was left impressed not just by the food, but also by the exceptional service that accompanied it.
Food Quality and Value
The menu at Vox offers an array of dishes that are bursting with flavor, and it’s incredible how close they come to being authentically Peruvian. Each dish I tried was crafted with care, presenting fresh ingredients and bold, vibrant flavors that transported me to another place. The value for the food is remarkable—portions are generous, and the quality you get for the price is truly hard to beat. It’s rare to find a restaurant where you feel like you’re getting more than your money’s worth, but Vox delivers on this front without a doubt.
Service Excellence
Service can make or break a dining experience, and at Vox, it was clear that customer satisfaction is a top priority. Our server, Lynn T., went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. What stood out was the attention to detail—Lynn was incredibly attentive, offering refills for drinks like lychee lemonade, which isn’t something I would normally expect. This was a delightful surprise, adding a layer of surprise and delight to the meal. It’s these little touches that elevate the overall experience, making it more memorable.
The rest of the staff at Vox was equally attentive, creating an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality that is sometimes hard to find in restaurants. From the moment we walked in until we left, the entire team made us feel welcome and valued, which only enhanced our enjoyment of the meal.
Looking Forward
It’s clear that Vox has set a new standard for Vietnamese restaurants, raising the bar not just in terms of food quality, but also in service and overall dining experience. I’m excited to see what other restaurants this company may open in the future, given the success they’ve achieved with Vox. It’s not just about serving good food; it’s about creating an experience that leaves a lasting impression, and Vox has certainly done that.
In summary, Vox is a gem in Fountain Valley. Whether you're a foodie looking to explore new flavors or someone who just wants a great meal with excellent service, Vox is the place to go. This restaurant has truly brought Vietnamese cuisine to another level, and I can't wait to see what...
