It's every so often I eat here with family. We stopped here today for a bite to eat and weren't disappointed. I had the Navajo taco. The frybread is delicious, light, airy, and crispy. It's not thick or too filling. The bean and meat mixture however is a little sweet for my taste. Might need a tweak or some added spices. It tastes just a bit flat. The amount of cheese, lettuce, and onions is just right. The Navajo burger that was also a part of our order was also pretty good. The patties were a little too greasy, soaked through the bread. The patties were well done which is what we prefer. The drinks pink lemonade were good but the Dr. Pepper was a little flat and too sweet. Not enough carbon, but it's no big deal. Finally we also ordered a iced Chai latte and it was made wonderfully. Tasted perfect and filled to the brim. Our hostess/waitress was very polite, friendly, and made sure everything was to our liking. Her name is Heather and she was a real delight. Masks are required inside so please mask up. This is the Navajo Nation and we do want to protect one another, so please sanitize hands and mask up. The outside appearance is small but it's clean in regards to the landscaping and the entrance is clean. Inside is clean and they sanitize the tables after clean up. Our table was clean and not sticky from build up of grease. Tables are spread apart, which we liked. They practice social distancing, and keep things clean. A+ on cleanliness. Tables could use an update, but overall decent. This place has come a long way. Overall, it was all worth the money. If you need a place to grab a bite to eat and want to leave with a full stomach, this is the place to go. I recommend this little establishment. -food...
Read moreWe had a WONDERFUL experience here! To start out, we ordered three different appetizers. We had chips and salsa, elote dip and the fries. The salsa was spicy and flavorful. The elote dip was fresh, but the star of the show was the pumpkin mole. The pumpkin mole on the fries complimented the cheese very well. For our entree, we shared a chipotle burger on the blue corn fry bread. The portions made sharing easy and still left us feeling more than full! My parents shared a Navajo taco and were pleased by the fresh ingredients. My brother got the mutton tostada. I got to try a bite and the mutton melted in my mouth. My sister ordered the fry bread chalupa which was phenomenal! The shrimp was juicy and really fresh. It paired really well with the arugula, aioli and blue corn fry bread. Overall, I would have to say the blue corn fry bread was really out of this world. I am not a fry bread connoisseur, but I live in Oklahoma and have had quite a bit of fry bread before and I can say with confidence that I haven’t had anything like this blue corn fry bread. For dessert, we had the blue corn fry bread. It came with ice cream, blueberries, cinnamon, caramel, chocolate and pinion nuts. It was excellent! It is comparable to a funnel cake with ice cream, but so much better! One of the best parts about this meal was how affordable it ended up being. Most meals were priced at around $14 and were very generously portioned. It felt like a real Food Network experience! Couldn’t recommend this place more-definitely...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting Monument Valley and staying near by in Kayenta so Amigo Cafe was one of the top recommended places for dinner in town. It was super busy tonight with a lengthy wait-list and the dining room was packed but the fine ladies that run this restaurant worked so efficiently together and sharply!
The elote dip with the chicarones was delicious. The pickled jalapeños gave the corn a slight kick but nothing extremely spicy which I appreciate. The salty flavors of the pork rinds and creamy dip just married the flavors together.
The chips and salsa were good but if you don't like bold, hot spice, you're going to have a rough time haha. I only had one chip full because my gallbladder is not friendly with spice anymore.
Two of us had shredded beef chimichangas with the side of rice and guacamole. Everything was hot, fresh and crispy! Seasoned well too! Mom had the beef fajitas with onions, peppers, beans and rice, which she enjoyed.
We couldn't have asked for a better dinner on our last day in Navajo Nation. I hope to get coffee there tomorrow but if not, if I ever return to this part of AZ, I would definitely return and recommend.
The food and atmosphere was worth the wait!...
