Unfortunately, on our last day in New Mexico in the quaint nostalgic town of Tucumcari, I had one of the worst dining experiences that I've ever had. After checking out of our motel, my boyfriend & I were looking forward to our breakfast at Kix on 66 as it had been recommended by the motel owner as well as boasted a 4.6-star rating on Google. I ordered the biscuit & sausage gravy platter. My boyfriend ordered a green chili omelet with ham. Upon starting to eat our breakfasts, we both very quickly surmised the hash browns were terrible. My hash browns were cold, limp, and mushy....they were definitely not fresh! My biscuit & gravy platter came disassembled. I put everything together & sadly wished I had NOT. My first bite was a piece of sausage that was full of gristle and worse! I had to spit it into a napkin. I was hoping maybe that the bite was an anomaly but in attempting try other bites, both the sausage patties and the sausage bits that they placed at the bottom of the cream gravy were extremely gristly and not fit to eat. (As a side note, when I ordered "sausage gravy" I thought the sausage would be simmered in the gravy but the pieces were added at the bottom of a bowl of regular cream gravy.) The eggs, which I ordered scrambled were not scrambled but cooked in a folded sheet & were not tasty. The biscuits were okay but nothing to write home about... The only part of my breakfast that had a pleasant taste was the cream gravy...but it wasn't worth eating due to the gristly sausage being mixed in. My boyfriend's omlette contained the ingredients ordered plus bacon not requested & cheese melted on top yet no cheese on the inside of the omlette with the meat and green chilis. He immediately noticed that omelet was filled with dry, hard, unpleasant-tasting bacon bits that seemed several days old. He first attempted to pick them out but they were too abundant, so it seemed an exercise in futility. By this point we were totally turned off by the entire breakfast experience. We decided to abort and went to discuss our concerns with the cashier. Our problems were met with the lip service of a hallow apology. And with a smile she charged us full price for our terrible food.
We left and got some breakfast down the road...never to return...

Didn’t seem to care that it was mostly inedible. Ate the cold toast and part of the slice of bacon that was cooked. Awful experience.
In addition to this bad experience you have now called me a liar. It was an excessively long wait from the time we ordered our food til we got served. I know time we went in and I know what time we were served. I did NOT eat most of the food. I took one bite of the scrambled egg and it was cold. I took one bite of the hash browns and they were cold. I ate most of the piece of toast that I had and I ate the part of the bacon that was cooked the most. I paid for the sorry food even though the majority of it was not eaten.
As for the other people in my party, there was five others not four. And since you asked how theirs was I’ll tell you. My grandson ordered a turkey sub with turkey and cheese with mayo and no veggies. When it was served it had turkey, cheese and veggies and no mayo. My son in law ordered a hamburger and it was not served the way he ordered and had to send it back and had to wait on another one. My husband’s patty melt was okay. My daughter’s patty melt was okay and my granddaughter’s French toast was good.
If you continue to call your customers liars when they leave unhappy I don’t think you’ll be in business very long. You just made the...

It’s where the locals hang, the food is home cooked, the staff of locals add the right amount of color to an already colorful style of restaurant. Breakfast is my favorite meal, and the diner is the perfect place to get that tummy filled. I’ve been driving across the US for a month and stopping at any diner that is in the vicinity of my nights stay. Well this diner was not in my area but we were driving past it about an hour up the road. And it was well worth the house drive. Kix on 66 is a piece of historic RT 66 nostalgia. With everything in the diner giving you a place back in time. Even the counter chairs are from the 50’s it seems. We came in around 10:30 and the place had a few tables full and a few locals at the bar. While we were waiting for our order to come out, a few local law enforcement came in to eat. Now you know that if the local law officers eat there, it’s got to be good. I ordered the French Toast platter with scrambled eggs and crispy bacon, and it came out to perfect, the table also had the “Running Burrito” again it was delicious. We also ordered 2 iced espresso drinks, which were large, cold and tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We picked up a lapel pin that was their logo Kix66, they also have mugs and other RT66 souvenirs. Driving historic RT66 / I40, take a breakfast break at this diner, you will feel right at home, and back in time. You’ll get...
