I was unfortunate enough to stop by Mapleton Grocery Store ( 1202 E 58th Ave # A, Denver, CO 80216) 9/8/15 at about 2 pm. I was in the neighborhood to meet a guy from craigslist to purchase some equipment and I stopped by this grocery store to purchase something to drink. Specifically I purchased 2 Snapple's at .99 cents each and a pack of Swisher Sweet cigars 2 pack at .99 cents as well, for a total of $3.24 ( or something like that as I was UNABLE to have a receipt) I handed the man helping me a $20 dollar bill and he handed me $1.76 back in change. I never put the money in my pocket or removed it from the counter where he placed it, I kindly informed him that I had given him a $20 and the change was incorrect. As if on cue the other two employees behind the glassed in counter began to Immediately and very loudly accuse me of coming in to short change them. They opened the register to "prove" to me that they didn't have any $20's in the drawer... I don't know if the man dropped it on the floor or put it in his pocket, I assume I should have been paying closer attention. What i do know is the following. I ONLY HAD 2 $20 dollar bills on my person, i'm frankly that broke until Friday. I was with a friend who witnessed the entire event, not to mention the line of customers behind me saw the same thing and chimed in letting the workers know they saw the same thing. The owners began to belittle me and "shame" me, at which point I calmly asked the "manager" if he would review the security camera footage as there is a camera peering down on each transaction, he went to the back and returned saying I could come back tomorrow to see the tape he cant get to it... I had already called 911 to report the incident, but left the store before the police arrived because the workers were trying to escalate the situation and threatening me. A few minutes later I received a phone call from the responding Adams county sheriff who said unfortunately there was nothing he could do because it was a small claims civil matter, but he went on to inform me that they get THIS EXACT CALL about customers being shortchanged several times per month and there was nothing they could do about it.
YOU CAN DO SOMETHING PLEASE SHOP ELSEWHERE...DON'T...
Read moreThe deli is inside the gas station, which has been around for decades. It’s family owned and operated (mostly). The folks here are always friendly. These folks care about how a sandwich is built, which is appreciated. They have an extensive amount of sandwiches they offer, some of which may not be in the displayed menu, but they’ll do whatever you’d like if they have it available. They cut everything fresh, produce and meats. Hot subs are cooked on a conveyor toaster. Bread is sourced locally (the white sub roll is the best). They also offer salads, breakfast burritos, potato and macaroni salads, and green chili - but I haven’t tried those yet. Oh yeah, the...
Read moreThis unassuming little gem has hands down THE BEST Gyros in the North Denver/Thornton/Commerce City area and I have shopped around extensively, and the rest of their menu is just as good. In talking with Kaz, the owner, who's the nicest guy to talk to and always helpful, they source the freshest ingredients they can and some of their recipes trace far down their family lines, seriously legit eats! It's also extremely convenient to go fill up on gas, get your cigarettes or whatever drinks or snacks you could want (their convenience store selection is quite good), and pick up an amazing lunch all at...
