I signed my son up for the math science summer camp through the Apex. Normally, all of the Apex camps that weâve attended have been excellent however, this one was very disappointing. The room the camp was being held in, was an empty classroom with no decorations and very stark environment. The theme is science base. I pictured something much different with science experiments, but it was just a bunch of put together type of experiments that you can buy at target to do at home. My son has special needs, and he just wasnât feeling the space and would not go into the class room, We did not end up staying to attend the camp at all. I let the camp counselor know that I would need to speak to the owner or whom ever is in charge regarding a refund. No one ever got in touch with me so I reached out to the Apex to have them contact the owner, and in spite of the circumstances of my son having special needs in the camp, not being what it was sold to be they would not refund my money. By the way, the camp was not at capacity there were only three kids there, so I could see how they might be a little hard up...
Read morePre-COVID, we really liked the in-person summer camps for our K-3 kiddos. They host summer camps at a facility near our home, and our children have attended probably 10 weekly camps over the last few years.
During COVID, the company did a great job pivoting to virtual camps and classes in 2020. There is an adult who teaches via Zoom while another adult monitors the chat and reads any questions, so all the students can stay muted much of the time and everyone can hear. (They do come off mute to interact and share.) Overall, our children really like these camps and I like that they drop off supplies on my porch so I don't have to run around looking for a coffee filter, ping pong ball, etc.
Now that we're looking at in-person summer camps again (hooray!), we have booked several more weekly summer camps with Mad Science. The instructors are great and they do a good job modifying camps so they feel fresh & new for returning kiddos...
Read moreOur birthday party was amazing! My 7yo budding scientist had a blast, and everyone from the 4yo to the grownups was super entertained. I was so excited to find Mad Science and was really hopeful it would go well, but I had never heard of them and stumbled in the site randomly. The party seriously exceeded my expectations. Our scientist instructor was wonderful with all of the kids and kept them engaged despite how little they are. My kiddos in particular have some special needs and struggle with attention, and they were deeply engaged for almost the full hour. Multiple parents approached me sharing my disbelief that they were all so quiet and so focused. I canât recommend Mad Science enough. They made my birthday kiddo feel so special while making sure every kid was included, excited, and having...
