Update time: Previous Review was 2/5. So much better now. Wife and I decided it has been a few months and it was time to try them again since they had time to get their feet under them. So much better. Service was friendly and courteous and PROMPT ( we had the same waitress from our first time I think and she was very nice and helpful). SO much better. They were very nice to our 2 year old and even gave him some of his favorite apple sauce for free. ( I was sold at that point) The food was much better. Not much more to say there honestly. But the cinnamon rolls. Oh doggy. Get one if they still have some left. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and the pancakes are enormous. We took lots of food home and we will be going back more often.
Well done Nana's. Well done.
End Update... (leaving old review to see how far they have come)
This review is from one of the first few weeks of them bring open. So I will update after we go again in the future.
Summary: Food: was ok Service: so bad it kinda hurt
Disclaimer I really wanted to love this place. I have visited them before when they were open before a couple years ago and had fond memories of their food. So very disappointed. The front house staff was either overwhelmed or short staffed. It took a very long to get our order and drinks. It took a ridiculous amount of time for the tables around us to get their drinks as well. Some people left while we were there due to the poor service, and most everyone had a sour look on their face, both staff and customers. Our waitress was nice, but seemed to have no idea what she was doing. No refills ever. One of the kids spilled their drink while she was taking our order. She didn't even acknowledge it happened. Had to ask for a rag. (she had a rag tucked in her belt, but she had to run in the back to grab 4 napkins to clean it up with). I will stop now, since I want to go back in a while after they have a chance to get more training/experience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this made me so sad I want to let them know I am rooting for them, but they won't last long if they...
Read moreOk, need to start by saying we REALLY wanted to like this place. Heard a lot of people were excited when they were moving up Meridian. We finally made it over there this past Sunday and while our entrance was met with "hello" and "grab a seat anywhere" in a friendly enough tone, left rather really disappointed. We ordered two omelets, with a side of Bacon and Sausage pattties and a Chef Salad. (Salad was for the Mrs. and the rest for my son and I) The omelets were ok, nothing great, but nothing bad, OK. When we requested the Potatoes and other carbs be left off the plate, the waitress looked at us like she did not know what to do with that information. The sides of bacon costing $3.45each, you would think it would be pretty decent bacon. it was all super thin, and I think it had been sitting around for quite some time and then simply warmed up. It fell apart before you could grab it off the plate. Not my worst bacon, but in the bottom 3. As for the salad, it arrived 7-8 minutes after the rest of the meals, and the menu stated it would include spinach and hardboiled eggs. It showed up with iceberg lettuce, a little deli meat and even less cheese. When we asked our waitress about the eggs, she stated she did not know if it really came with that, and brought the menu over to review. Once we determined it was indeed missing eggs, she told us "I don't think we have any" Did not bother to look into it. As for salads - I can get much better at the 7-11 down the street for a lot less She never asked for refills on our drinks, never asked how the meal was. So the meals were average and the Waitress came off as totally clueless and not really into customer service. First impressions last a while, and while we MIGHT try again, it will not be for some time and hopefully they get back whatever it was they had that made them so popular in their...
Read moreFirst time at Nana’s Kitchen and honestly might be the last. It takes a lot for me to write off a restaurant the first time I go, but this place made it happen. We walked in and there are no signs or anything that say wait to be seated or seat yourself, so we just stood there for about a minute and weren’t acknowledged by any of the staff. Finally, we just decided to sit in an open booth that hadn’t been wiped down yet. After about 7-10 minutes someone finally came over and acknowledged that we were there, after watching 3 different tables who arrived there after us receive their drinks. We got our drinks and then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes for the waitress to come back to take our order while watching more and more tables, who arrived after us, have their order taken. The food didn’t take too long to come out, but my wife’s hash browns were burnt and my burrito was cold in the middle. The one star is for the French toast, it was pretty good. Besides the wait staff member that was bringing around coffee, we were never approached during our meal to have our drinks refilled or to see if we needed anything else. We were done eating and waited forever to get our check. Finally received it and it was $40 for 2 adults and a child, which is pretty ridiculous. The wait staff was never rude to us, but we did notice all the people getting helped before us, who arrived after us, were friends or family of the wait staff, so it seemed like they were getting special treatment and we were just forgotten about. We were there for about an hour and a half, when we were only eating for 20-30 minutes. Very...
