It’s a clean hotel and decent location, but all things considered, there are more desirable properties with better ammenties for the price, in my humble opinion. We chose this location because it was pet “friendly” and boasted an on-site restaurant (read on about the restaurant experience…) but they fail to tell you that it’s nearly a 1/2 mile walk to the pet area…which is ACROSS THE STREET from the property….and when there’s 2 feet of snow on the ground…this is incredibly inconvenient. They also charge a $30 per night “resort fee” in addition to the room charge but there’s really nothing that stood out to us to really validate that charge. The rooms are decent and they offer some in-room things like a gas fireplace, bath robes, & a humidifier which are nice, but I would prefer “amenities” like actually getting SERVICE at their on-site restaurant, perhaps. We stood there for 5-10 minutes….in a nearly empty restaurant…(multiple open tables…FYI), before we were even greeted, and then were told that if we didn’t have a reservation, we couldn’t eat or get drinks…as HOTEL GUESTS…with only a handful of patrons who were mainly sitting at the bar….that’s a FAIL in my book. We’d been traveling ALL day and with nearly 2 feet of snow on the ground and the road conditions worsening, it would have been nice to not have to drive to find something edible. We even checked out their “self serve” food options via their little convenience store because we were so tired from driving and really didn’t want to go anywhere….with no option for room service and the restaurant telling us they “didn’t have tables” we figured we would atleast take a look…but there was honestly nothing aside from some unhealthy options; our choices were pretty much ramen noodles, ice cream sandwiches, or potato chips. PASS. Truthfully, if I’m going to spend upwards of $300/night for a hotel room during the Off-Peak season…I would expect more to be honest. We weren’t expecting the Ritz-Carlton level of service or anything but it would be nice to be able to order room service or atleast get food at the restaurant, and not have to jump through hoops or risk our lives driving through a snow storm just to EAT…or worse, trudge through it at 10,000 feet elevation, and go across the street while it’s still coming down…just to let our dogs relieve themselves. I should also mention that we paid for the upgraded “pet” package…and upon arrival, there wasn’t a door hanger to state as such as they require…as well, there are no “pet waste pickup” stations/bags ANYWHERE that we could find on the property. Also, the lock to our room door got jammed MULTIPLE times, and the door wouldn’t open from the inside - which just screams “fire hazard”. And the exit doors were always open…never requiring a key. That seems to be a safety hazard as well. We were here celebrating our anniversary…and there wasn’t any “celebrating” to be had if you know what I mean….because the walls are so paper thing that you could hear a pin drop! Thankfully, it was only a one-night stay….in future visits to Breckenridge, we will be absolutely be seeking alternative accommodations. The photos made it seem like the ideal resort experience but honestly, it didn’t live up to what we expected for the nightly rate. **Edited to add the BEST part! We woke up to NO POWER in the entire hotel! And guess what, even the BLINDS are electronic…so let me tell you how much fun it’s been trying find and pack our things or get ready for the day. The front desk’s solution (since clearly a $300/night “resort” shouldn’t be equipped with a back up generator for the lights at the very least…SMH) was to hand me 3 (barely lit) battery operated candles. I can’t even make this up. My husband and I so rarely get away for ourselves and this entire experience at this hotel was a DISASTER and ruined what was supposed to be a romantic weekend. The power outage was just the icing on the cake. We will NOT...
Read moreThis hotel has all of the bones to be a really great place to stay but really missed the mark in several different areas.
We had our wedding in mid September 2023 at the lodge. There were plenty of great things, but also some big downfalls.
We loved the location, it was absolutely stunning for our wedding ceremony. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The lodge is generally very comfortable. The front desk staff was overall kind and helpful.
I was surprised when we arrived and received nothing special for having our wedding at the lodge and multiple guests occupying the rooms. We stayed at a basic Hilton for a later reception of ours, even they took the time to write us a special note, provide a bottle of wine, and a gift. The lodge had no “special touches” for the bride and groom.
The service was generally sub par. Apparently, you have to request your room to be cleaned. I went to the front desk the day before our wedding (early am) and requested a room cleaning before the next day. They denied me, saying they were short staff. I ended up having to leave trash outside our room to be picked up, and tidying the room ourselves. This was an issue because there is no bridal suite, so our room was used for hair and makeup.
We were assured our guests would have transportation via shuttle. However, the shuttle was broken down and out of service most of our stay.
My parents had dinner at the lodge one evening, and were disappointed it took hours.
Our guests who visited the breakfast were constantly disappointed that there was very little food available if you didn’t come first thing in the morning.
And finally, the most upsetting, were the wedding coordinators. Whenever we had questions for them, they acted as if we were bothering them, rather than us being paying customers. We are not high maintenance people, and I worked the wedding industry for years, so I understand it from their end. The questions we had were very basic, and they continued to act as if we were inconveniencing them. We needed clarifications when filling out our final banquet packet, so we set a call with them. The entire call was extremely negative. Instead of helping clarify things we questioned, they told us to read the paperwork. There was a misunderstanding at one point, and one of the ladies continued to argue with me. Again, it was a misunderstanding. However, it would have been preferred if they were more helpful and understanding as we tied up the final details of our big day.
Luckily, we didn’t have questions come up while we were there, as we never saw or heard from the coordinators throughout our stay and wedding day, or even after. Very sub par, “hands off” service.
The banquet staff, however, was exceptional. Our guests loved how delightful our wait staff and bartenders were. The food was excellent and we loved the alcohol options they provided.
If you’re considering a wedding here, the location and views are the...
