If you are a pizza fanatic, you will definitely want to add this place to your short list. I haven’t tried all their styles yet, but my first bite of their NY style brought me immediately back to the streets of the Big Apple with it’s insanely thin crust where the cheese is (yet strong enough to hold up when you fold the crust end in half and eat it “New York” style), covered with a thin-yet-dense cheese layer that you know was piled high before it went into the oven, along with a generous ring of crust on the outside that is both crispy and chewy, reminiscent of a Neapolitan style pizza. As much as I enjoy a good NY slice, however, I was born in the ‘burbs and lived in Chicago proper for some years as well, so for me Chicago style pizza is where it’s at, whether it’s the north side’s pan, deep dish or stuffed pizzas, or the cracker-crust super thin and crispy style typical of south-side taverns. La Pizza Via’s take on Chicago style is definitely the south side’s version, and true to form, indeed. Gotta eat the four triangle corner slices first, of course! The only thing missing is a mug straight from the freezer filled with a creamy, frothy root beer like Dad’s… Can’t wait to try the Detroit style and the Sicilian style next—cosa...
Read moreLooking for something different today for lunch and came across this place. Their Google ratings are great and the menu choices were appealing. So to meet my pasta craving I ordered their sausage mushroom cavatoppi with a cream sauce. It didn't say it came with anything else but I assumed at least garlic bread with accompany the entree being it's an Italian themed cuisine. But I was ok with that and expecting a large enough portion to still fill me up until dinner. That was definitely the wrong assumption! I picked up my pasta and judging by the weight of the bag there wasn't much in it. I brought it back to work about 12 minutes away from the restaurant. The container was the size of a small noodle bowl from Noodles and Company. At this point I'm now upset that this rang up to just a few cents under $15! For what a $10 entree at the most?!?! I could have gone to my usual Italian restaurant and gotten a shrimp fettuccine with cream sauce, side salad, and breadstick for $15.51 after tax and still have leftovers. And thank goodness I had stopped at Quiznos to get a half salad because I would have been starving by dinner. La Pizza Via 1st time customer and last time customer. Get a grip on your price...
Read moreI often order this pizza for my staff of ten. But tonight, I ordered for my family and guests. The large pizza should have been half cheese but was covered with toppings. I checked my order on Door Dash, it was ordered correctly. The Nutella stuffed bread was substituted with something else. When I called and spoke to the manager, he said call me at 8 after the dinner rush. I told him that I was having people over dinner. He said he would make a cheese pizza and hung up before I could ask questions. He then called and said the pizza was done and he made something cinnamon in place of the Nutella bread. He told me to pick it up. I had guest visiting. How does the hostess leave? I told him to deliver it. That never happened and my grandson did get to have...
