So, I took my mom & a friend of ours, who's birthday we were celebrating, here for brunch on 9/16/2019. I ordered the Stuffed Potato Pancake. Which would've been much better if it had not been cooked on the same spot of the grill where something prior was burned. Everything looked great but the burnt taste was very overwhelming so I only ate about 2-3 bites. It was my first time here so I didn't realize that by the time we ordered & got our food they would be closing shortly, so I didn't bother to say something about it to the server, which in normal circumstances I would have. THEN I got home & thought I'd deconstruct my meal because surely the scrambled eggs w/bacon that were in the middle were hopefully still salvageable. That's when I found out that the burnt food on the griddle that transfered the burnt taste to my food was actually from MY food! Both potato pancakes were burnt to a crisp but the clever cook put one burnt pancake burnt side down on the plate, put the scrambled eggs on top of that, then put the top pancake burnt side down, so all looked fine to the naked eye. Now, the scrambled eggs, which were NOT burned, might as well have been because they were ruined from the burned pancake sitting on top of them. So I just threw away almost an entire $12 meal that, if great, would've lasted me at least 2 more meals! Needless to say, I was hugely unimpressed. Especially when you think that it's a little bit pricey there for breakfast & the quality of the food. The server was less than warm & fuzzy also. Would I go back? Most likely not as I would only order fried eggs, Hash browns, & maybe some sausage if I did return & quite frankly, I could get that same meal, better & cheaper, at my local coffee shop like Island Cafe in Island Lake. No fluff just good breakfasts. And a much friendlier...
Read moreFirst, the coffee cups on the table were dirty. Not a huge offense, but that's just where it began. The waitress got confused taking our order on the electronic pad they used. When the food came, the potatoes I received were cold and bland. My boyfriend's burger was made with what tasted like rotten beef and an undercooked egg. When we were getting ready to leave, we asked for the check and the waitress seemed offended that we didn't want to go containers. In an attempt to not cause a scene, we both took our left overs to go. Then as we were paying (entirely WAY too much, I might add) I thought the five star system was linked to other restaurants, so we requested a coupon to be used. As I realized they were not connected, the manager gave us a dirty, snooty look. I didn't appreciate that. Not to mention they never gave us a receipt, which I didn't notice at the time because I just wanted to get out of there. After we left, my boyfriend called the manager and she refused to even apologize for the issues we encountered, stating that there was nothing to be done. Hanging up the phone, the manager said an extremely sarcastic goodbye. Both of us have stomach aches now (approximately one hour after eating) and all that was offered to us was to come back and eat with them again. This is absolutely out of the question. We spent $50 for awful tasting food, terrible customer service, stomach aches and nausea.
As I stated above. I will never return to Brunch Cafe in Fox River Grove nor any other location based upon...
Read moreIt was medium busy I would say (hardly any spots left in the lot!), but our party of three was seated instantaneously and even in the requested booth! Our server took our drink orders and answered a couple questions (went with guests from out of the country) within a couple of minutes of us being seated and had our drinks with us really fast as well. Now to the food. We received our orders within 5-8 minutes of placing our order with our server! We each had an omelette with pancakes and hash browns, plus one of the pancake sides were specialty cakes (carrot). My guests each had the garden omelette and I had the mile high (ham, bell pepper, onion). We enjoyed the freshness of the food, the guests loved the hash browns (me too, but I knew what hash browns are 😊) and their pancakes. I really appreciated to be able to order the speciality pancakes with my omelette instead of plain and let me tell you, the carrot cake pancakes are delish!! We each have enough omelette for breakfast tomorrow as well 😉 Additionally, we were asked if we like to take some coffee and soda to go, which I think was a really really nice gesture. It took us a total of 40 minutes from walking in to walking out happily stuffed with leftovers and to go drinks! This was my first time at the brunch cafe, but let me tell you, it won't be my last! Thanks a bunch for this great and fast service and the fresh and...
