Every time I call and place a pick up order they screw it up.might it be to much food that they charged me for or not enough. So last night once again they screwed my order up. I called a lady that spoke broken English answered I told her what I wanted and she repeated it to me. I though the order was right but when my husband got home he said what did you order that cost me 30 something dollars. I ordered a fajita dinner a Santa Fe quesadilla dinner all rice no beans and a burrito dinner and one chicken tamale they charged me and gave me a tamale dinner instead I just wanted all rice no beans with the quesadillas dinner and got rice and beans.. I called back and asked for a manager the manager told me that they repeated the order to my husband when he was there he said that he didn't know what I had ordered which he didn't he wasn't home when I ordered it and that I should've had him call me to confirm what I had ordered while he was there I said I shouldn't of had to do that I told the lady what I wanted she repeated it back to me and I though it was right.I told her that she needed to have somebody that spoke better English taking orders she told me I was racist I told her no I just need you to know that you should have somebody that knows how to speak English taking orders so there's not mistakes like this which there is always mistakes when I phone order and she told me that I should've asked for somebody else to take my order and at that point I told her that I'll never eat at her establishment again and take care. she was very rude and ignorant to me I will never step foot in this restaurant again. And I'll tell everybody I know about how rude and ignorant she was. Oh and by the way my best friend and my in-laws a Mexican but I'm so racist...
Read moreI came here because I was really craving some chili relleno & Pepe's doesn't have it. I saw all the great reviews & decided to try it. Went there & it was busy so figured it was worth a shot. Worst "Mexican" food I've ever had. I don't know what the sauce was they used on top of it but it looked like ketchup. The chili rellenos were overcooked or the oil was dirty. They shouldn't be a dark brown but a golden brown instead. The rice & chili relleno was so bland & I was afraid to try the beans by the look of them. For $10 a plate that doesn't even wait on you & you're using plastic utensils I expected more. Never again. Anyone who thinks it's good hasn't ever had real Mexican food. I guess I was spoiled as a former waitress/delivery driver for one. The lady who took my order wasn't at all trying to be friendly & didn't give me an order number like most everyone else did. I had to listen for them to call chili relleno & hope there wasn't anyone else waiting for the same order. Tables were dirty & so close to each other I had to wiggle out of my seat to avoid hitting the ppl next to me & I'm not a huge lady @ 130 lbs. I'd rather drive into my old neighborhood in Chicago off Montrose & Kimball next time I have a craving. I would have given 2 stars but the plastic utensils for the...
Read more(TL:DR version: Started going here over 10 years ago, moved, visited, ate there again, all still delicious. Big fan of steak burrito, red sauce, and horchata).
Full version:
I used to work in the strip mall (almost) right across the street. So this place was one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I almost always ordered the same thing, and have great horchata.
I had moved out of state about 10 years ago, but was back recently, and had the opportunity to stop by. I ordered my burrito the same way I did all those years ago, and it came out just as delicious. I wish I knew how they made the steak! It so, so good!
I'm a huge fan of their red sauce (I don't know if it's morita sauce or not, but it's SO GOOD!) and the carrots and peppers. I like to peel open my burrito a little and add the carrots and peppers and pour in some red sauce, then after my first bite, start adding more.
If I remember right, it's family owned business, and part of the family works there. Years ago the manager's name was Lisa, this time through, I met her brother. Both great people and easy to chat with when...
