I called on the evening of 7/3/19 to place my orders for 7/4th as I figured It would be busy. The owner's Dad told me that I did not have to place my order at that time, but I could call when they open at 11am on 7/4th and I would be fine. On the morning of 7/4th I started calling and the phone line stayed busy so I went there. I placed 2 orders, one @ 11:59am and one @ 12:01pm. The Dad who was taking the orders told me that my orders would be ready in about 15/20 minutes so I left and came back. My daughter called and asked if I would place her an order, so I placed her order @ 12:20 pm when I returned.
I sat there for about 30 minutes, then I asked the owner's Sister if she would check to see when my order would be ready, she checked and told me about another 35 minutes . At that point it was 1:00 pm I left and came back an hour later only to be told by the owner that I would still need to wait for the order that I put in @11:59 because I had placed separate orders, my order got pushed out of the system.
I tried to show the owner my phone with the receipts and times on them so he could see what time my orders were placed. Instead of him saying I'm sorry you've had to wait so long he said to me that he was trying to keep it professional with me. He then turned and walked away as if he had dismissed me. I told his Dad that I wanted a refund. He went to the back and came back and told me that it would be texted to me. Now, because they had screwed up my orders I did not want to leave without something in writing showing that I was due a refund. The owner was in the back and the Dad continue taking orders and I'm standing there being ignored.
At this point it's 2:00pm I started this journey @ 11:59am, I had been in here 3 times that day, waited for hours I just wanted my money back so that I could get on with my holiday. I called the police to get my refund, for one I was not going to continue to be ignored when I had not done anything wrong and also when the owner told me he was trying to be professional with me I felt threatened and I really didn't know what to expect next. There was another customer in there so not only did I feel threatened but I was also embarrassed by the way the owner spoke to me.
Maybe I didn't spend enough money that day as the other couple of times I placed large orders. I am a very patient person, but I will not be talked to any kind of way especially when I am spending my money. The Dad was even complaining that his son is the only cook back there and he should train someone else to help out.
The food is good but my main reason for patronizing the restaurant was because it is black owned and I love to support my own especially in my neighborhood. I was so excited when you opened I told my family, friends and church members that we had to support you so that you can stay in Frankfort. Since I have sent them there I am definitely going to share my experience with them. I pray that you learn how to be professional for real Sir and that you don't treat any other customer the way you treated me.
Your food is good but there is always someone better than you. Good customer service goes a long way!!! Blessings to...
Read moreFound this place on google. Seeing that I've lived in Dallas Texas for 10 years and have ate some of the most well respected places not only in Texas (Franklin's, Hutchins, Snows and Terry Blacks ect...) but from Memphis to Kansas City and on and on. Not wanting to Bash a Black owned business but. Sorry no pics. I've been to Chicago several times as My Wife is from here. Never tried Chicago BBQ but wanted to give it a fair chance. She ordered a reg rib tip and I ordered ribs and brisket w/ fries. The ribs were like baby back ribs that he cut down the middle. So one ribs was 2. The meat was dry and crunchy almost fried. The rib tips were just as dry and sliced paper thin. I knew I was in trouble when the season was on the outside of the ribs. Definitely would give it a 1 out of 10. I ate one rib and trashed the rest. The brisket had absolutely no smoke and seemed to be streamed or boiled but not smoked. No flavor, no season and the fat on the slice wasn't even rendered (Try injecting the brisket). I spent 52.00 and all I can say is at least the fries were good and the drinks we had was cold. If you've had real BBQ from anywhere in America stay clear from here. I recommend the owner go out of state and get help on how cook BBQ. I can't believe he's been in business that long......By far the worst food I've ever had in Chicago....
Read moreWent in Tuesday evening, ordered $85 worth of food, 3 lbs of rib tips, 1 lb hot links, 3 fries and 4 small Mac and cheese sides. Get the food home to find dried out macaroni. The restaurant is closed on Mondays so I have a strong feeling any leftover mac from Sunday was sold to me. Not to mention the 3 orders of fries were over cooked. Close to half of the tips were tough and the other portion was tender. I had to put the hot link in the toaster oven. Not pleased at all, especially with the amount I spent in this restaurant yesterday. This was my second time here. The first time I purchased one small tip and link combo. The order was better when I spent less, but the service needed work even on the first visit. Called 7 times to place the order. No one would answer. Get to the restaurant, and was told the register is down, not sure when it will be back up. I told him, if you answered the phone, you could have informed me that was the situation. Thankfully I had cash on me. I asked, if I pay cash can the order be placed. I assume at some point while preparing my order, the system must have come back up, because he was able to text me my receipt. They don't print receipts in store. I don't think I will return. I'm not pleased with wasting my money or the uncaring service. Receipts...
