Excellent BBQ, chicken, and slaw. The chicken is fall of the bone juicy. It comes with a side of vinegar based "sauce". The slaw is AMAZING! The best slaw I have ever eaten. It is not chunky or stringy; it's almost pureed but you can still the cabbage and the orange from the carrots. It also has a sweet taste and not overpowered by the mayo. The reason for the 3 stars was the service the night we visited 7/19/2019. We came in about 8pm and they had already closed the back part of the dining area, the front was still open, but was not full. We waited a good 10 mins before we were greeted and our drink order taken. After our drinks were delivered we ordered and our food arrived promptly. The waitress came back a few mins later and dropped off our check. We never saw her again. We did want a refill of stew and after waiting and trying to get the attention of other passing waitresses we went to counter to ask for additional stew. Another young lady brought the stew to our table right way. We finished our meal and went to the register to pay. We stood there while 3 employees walked by none stopping to cash out our ticket. Finally a girl came up and took our money, but she was not friendly. I was really disappointed in the service we received that night. It seemed we were more of an inconvenience than customers. We have eaten here several times throughout the years, but the service was extremely lack luster and I am not sure if we will be making the 45 min drive again. I understand everyone has a bad day, but good customer service...
Read moreI had the sample platter consisting of the spare ribs, pulled pork, Brunswick Stew, coleslaw, and 2 pieces of white bread. The spare ribs were pretty good and tender, the pulled pork was tender and moist and was decent with the mild sauce. The coleslaw was of the KFC variety with a little sweetness, but not too much. It was good too. The sizes of the items were of ample quantity too. I was able to get filled up. Also the sweet tea and hospitality of the crew was pleasant and sweet! Where I have an issue was the Brunswick Stew like a few other reviewers on here. The stew was like a puree blend of watery mush. I was barely able to see the pieces of ingredients that comprised the mixture. I miss the days bbq and stew from Ivey's bbq that was located in Lilburn, GA. Their Brunswick Stew you could stand a metal fork in the middle of it with chunks of 'maters, corn, and strands of pulled pork. You could rake it on your bread and make a quick sandwich out of it! If you do want some want some good BBQ and don't mind a traveling some then the best I have found is North Georgia BBQ just south of the courthouse in Cleveland, Georgia. They have several flavors of sauces to satisfy any flavor of...
Read moreThis place is ok. They do have great slaw and the BBQ is ok, I am not a stew person so I can't tell you about it. The staff needs some more training. I don't like that they reach over everyone's plate to deliver a plate or drink. There is only one person pouring stew and last night when we were there the lady I was with wanted some and her granddaughter was sitting close to her and the waitress poured the stew over the little girl and some spilled out when she was moving away and that hot stew luckily missed the little girl. When wiping the tables down after the patrons leave they don't clean the chairs out. I have to get a napkin and clean it myself before I sit down. As I was waiting to pay for my meal I noticed a waitress put a bun in the microwave to warm it up and she used her gloved hand to open the microwave, close it, open it, close it then reach in the BBQ bowl and get BBQ out all with the gloved hand. The glove seamed somewhat pointless after all that. It seems it is more about quantity than quality. Money isn't everything. I certainly wouldn't recommend it without letting the person know about...
