Mr Grill Tacos — Restaurant in Franklin Township

First truck I visited when I moved to Columbus about six years ago. Kept driving by after work and seeing lines of people, so figured it had to be solid. Have been going back regularly ever since. Stopped again last evening and it was as good as ever.

Menu is pretty similar to your typical taqueria or truck, but they occasionally have some real treats like Salvadoran papusas on the menu. Just ask when you get to the window. All the tacos here are on point, but the chiccarón tacos are the absolute best I've found anywhere in the city. One of the few places I've found that uses a great blend of pork belly fat & meat, and they grill it long enough to get the optimal blend of textures -- part crunchy, party chewy, part gelatinous. It's a party in your mouth.

The salsa roja is delicious, but carries some serious heat. They also have two delicious salsas verde -- the creamy avocado version is surprisingly much hotter than their standard salsa verde.

Staff is always very friendly & helpful. Recommend calling ahead to cut out any wait times...

Been driving by for years. What a missed opportunity! The food is great! Lengua and Chicharron are incredible on traditional tacos. Will definitely be back for more of those! The asada was nice and crispy but not over cooked or dry. The chorizo, no idea what the spice is in it but it's great! Would love this blend for breakfast! Special surprise though was the carrots and onions with the jalapenos. Reminded me of a sweet gherkin pickle with just a touch of heat! Green salsa and avocado sauce are right excellent as well. The red has an interesting smokey flavor but the heat definitely got me. Overall will be back and sad I have been going there longer!

I moved from Florida about 4 years ago and the number one thing I miss besides the weather, is the FOOD. This is the closest I can find to south Florida taco stands and I have no problem getting my 7, 6, and 1 year old kids to eat from here. I absolutely love it, and can’t get enough. I’m ordering now, and will continue to order from here, as long as I’m trapped in Ohio. I’ve tried almost every other stand in Columbus, and I’ve only found two more I can tolerate and one of those two closed down. This is still the most authentic and by far my favorite.
