I ordered a country fried steak dinner online, looking forward to getting a nice hot meal on a cold rainy night: country fried steak, white gravy, biscuit, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese.
I requested curbside delivery online and added a 15% tip.
I got to the restaurant and parked by the front door. A lady with dark hair at the front counter kept looking outside at me and frowning. That continued for several minutes, until she left the counter and took a package to a vehicle outside, frowning at me all the while. She walked away from the vehicle and continued looking at me and frowning. She went into the front door and immediately came back out, asking me rudely if she could help me with something.
I told her I had placed an order.
“Country fried steak?”
“Yes.”
“Come in and get it. We don’t do curbside here.”
“It said curbside delivery online.”
“We don’t do that here,” she curtly replied before going back in.
Okay, the curbside delivery matter isn’t a big deal to me, especially since the restaurant seemed short-staffed. I got out of the car and went in to see her still giving me a bad look. That was what bothered me.
“We don’t do curbside delivery here,” she repeated harshly while handing me the bag containing my order, still frowning at me all the while.
I was in the wrong here, but I replied that it looked like she just did a curbside delivery.
“That was to my husband.” The bad looks directed at me continued.
“Well, thanks.” I said, taking the bag and quickly leaving. The bad looks continued.
I could maybe understand some of it if an employee just had a bad day; I know that restaurant workers are stressed out and juggling a lot right now.
I got my food home and opened it. It was all cold. Instead of the items listed in my order, I got steak with no white gravy, cold hash browns, toast instead of the biscuit, etc.
Like many other people, I struggle financially right now, and I had been having a bad day already. Looking forward to getting a nice meal, I ordered from Huddle House, paid my money, and was greeted with scowls and being spoken to curtly, and then I didn’t even get the food I had ordered. Very disappointed in the way I was treated tonight. I was treated rudely and didn’t get...
Read moreUpon walking in, the waitress informs us they have a water leak and several tables were blocked off. This should have been our cue to leave, but everyone was starving.
Our waitress was complaining to customers about other customers. My waffle sat on the waffle maker for 20 minutes. It was hard as a brick and was cold. I told her I wanted fried egg whites, I get scrambled with yolk. I asked for floppy bacon, I got burnt to a crisp. It crumbled to pieces and was black. My butter wouldn't melt in my grits, for one because they were undercooked and cold. My toast had so much butter. I tried to scrape it off, but it was so cold, none of it was edible. My friend ordered a waffle and didn't even get hers. I was so frustrated with everything I went to the counter to pay. I then noticed about 10 pieces of already cooked bacon sitting on the counter. When someone ordered bacon, I saw the cook take a few pieces and put them on the grill to heat it up. Everything behing the counter was dirty and unsanitary, which I didn't see until paying. Had state board decided to come, they probably would have been shut down. I get being short staffed in the restaurant business, but they weren't short staffed. There were 5 or 6 working and because there were 4 or 5 tables blocked off, There were only 6 booths with people. The sign on the door said they were hiring, but this day they had plenty to man the store. She kept complaining to everyone that she was the only waitress, yet there were two. I think that's extremely unprofessional and rude.
I pay for my food and I tipped her beyond my greater judgment, but I've lived off of tips before. But it sucked to pay for a meal,I didn't even get to eat. I walked next door to Arby's to buy food.
My mom paid cash for her food and the waitress, tried to keep $5. We're not sure if it was intentional or...
Read moreWhat can you say about a place you can visit at 7am on Christmas morning and find breakfast lunch and dinner waiting on you? We found the manager was kind and thoughtful of her staff as well as us as customers. Good food. Little wait. Good eaties. Only could have been reasonably better had Santa actually been there with the presents I'd forgotten back at home.
That was going to be a five star review until I went to pay the bill. They offer hash browns all-the-way for $1.99, my wife asked for those without tomatoes so we were asked to pay an extra $2.36 over the 1.99. Yes, extra. And there were still tomatoes in them. When asked about it we were told it had something to do with the owner getting in trouble with franchise corporate on the definition of all-the-way not including changes. Whatever - clearly none of that has anything to do with me. Ultimately they let us go for the $2 but it was a sour end to what was otherwise a cheerful and great experience. I'd rather have not been teased with the discount and paid extra than to have to play politics over the definition of...
