Maguro House & Tea House — Restaurant in Franklin

Let me start this review by saying I almost never review the places I go, and I’m not doing this out of malice. I genuinely love this restaurant and think it brings even the smallest amount of night life to Franklin. The food is AMAZING. Genuinely top tier and if you like tempura shrimp I cannot recommend it enough. The issue comes with the service. The place was empty so we were sat instantly which is always nice, but thats when the service issues started. We waited almost 20 minutes to be seen by a server which I thought was somewhat odd as the restaurant was pretty dead but I didn’t think too much of it (it’s a pretty sizeable menu after all so I had plenty of time to look through it). We placed our order and waited…. and waited…. and waited…. When I say it took almost an hour and a half to get our pretty small order I am not kidding. During that entire wait, online orders were coming in and almost immediately being filled. It seems like they prioritize doordash over the actual restaurant. When our food finally came out, they brought only one thing we ordered out at a time. We also were not given any utensils or napkins the entire time. Once all the food actually DID come out, it was cold and we had to ASK for utensils which was pretty crazy to me. I understand that running a restaurant is tough and it can get pretty backed up, but that was kinda crazy to me and even then we never even got napkins. I don’t want to write this review to get anyone in trouble, or to bash the restaurant, or anything like that. Believe me, I understand how grueling service work is and how awful customers can be. But when it’s over an hour wait time for a dead restaurant where doordash orders take priority, service is severely lacking, and everything else, I can’t say anything else besides just to order it on doordash. The restaurant prices are insanely cheap and yes, doordash jacks up the prices, but if you go in you’ll be paying with your time. Seriously, if you have any plans after eating, cancel them. This is your plans for the night now.

We went there last night for Ramen, and didn't get to try it because they were severely understaffed. Walking in, the lights were only partially on, it was rather dark inside, and everything was set up for door dash/grub hub with a big table in front. I rang a bell and someone asked me what I wanted to order. I said we would like to dine in, she said they were busy, but that it would be OK. We sat down, the table next to us was dirty because it hadn't been bused. We sat there for 5-10 minutes and nobody came back to our table and between the lights being partially off, the dirty table next to us, and nobody coming back to take our order, we got up and left. I bet their food is good, I only wish we got a chance to try it. The understaffing issue is a big problem right now in the food industry and I am definitely sympathetic to it. I hope this improves not just for Maguro House, but for all restaurants. I guess for now, it's better to order out from this restaurant rather than...

Walked into a sushi restaurant, sunday night, 630. Prime dinner time. There were 2 girls seated inside. I waited to be seated. 3 minutes later, somebody from the back came out. " Table for one". "Sit anywhere". And she disappeared into the back. Two guys came in to join the girls. I sat down and waited about 5 minutes.
