When Best Things Kentucky ranked this one 2/10, I sat up and took notice. The high rating inspired me to make a detour en route from Nashville to Atlanta and give it a try. A pulled pork sandwich and order of âhogâ (=seasoned) fries came to $8.78. They were short staffed, and the dining room was closed, so I went through the drive-thru and ended up eating on a picnic bench in a cold wind. No matter. One bite of the pulled pork, and it was clear that I had happened upon BBQ nirvana. The pork is so beautifully smoked that I urge everyone to sample it plain before trying the sauce that came with the order. The seasoned fries, which appear to have been given a dash of rub, complemented the meat beautifully. This is great BBQ, and well worth the few minutes that it takes to come into town from the interstate.    Read moreI hate that I didn't have the great experience most seemed to have had here. I liked the name. It had good reviews, and I was hungry for BBQ. The place was inviting. There were only a couple of other customers there, but it was not yet 5:30. The staff was extremely friendly, the service was fast, and the servings large. Sprinkling BBQ sauce on top, I dug in. I was disappointed. The pulled pork was so bland that even the sauce wasn't enough. The potato didn't taste fresh. I added salt and more sauce, but no matter what I did, it just did not taste good. Finally, after eating about 1/3, I threw the rest away and got a refill on the tea, which was good. Maybe it was just a bad batch of meat, and it had been a slow day for potatoes, so it had been kept warm too long. I can't remember any BBQ leaving a bad taste in my mouth, but this one did, figuratively and...
Read moreThe brisket sandwich was tender, juicy, and flavorful. It was perfectly marbled and bites with a little of the fat in them were the most savory. This sandwich had 3 large slices of fresh brisket with two slices of white Texas-style bread. I had it with the house hottest sauce and it was not disappointing. The sauce was a sweet-spicy, almost a habenero taste, but the sweetness was complimentary to the meat and not overwhelming. The pulled pork was scrumptious! Very lean and moist on a standard burger bun and my partner had it with mild sauce. The sauce was a great compliment to the pork. The Hog Fries (seasoned) were excellent! The rub on them is not too salty and has a subtle hint of sweetness, maybe paprika. Overall, this place is outstanding and the people who run it are amicable and out to please. Definitely stop by and support them if you are...
