This review is a painful one for me to write. Georgia Boys used to be one of my favorite local restaurants to frequent. I've been here on my birthday a couple times. I even bought a hat. However, there has been a noticeable decline in service and value over the last year or so, and my visit last night was the tipping point for me.
To be clear, the food is excellent, and that hasn't changed. I have zero issues with anything I've ever had to eat here. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. That is unfortunately where my compliments end.
The prices have increased several times. The Crowd Favorite plate, which used to be $16, is now $20, for example. That's a 25% increase. They have also removed menu items like the Texas Two Step plate or the side of fruit (I'm still upset about that one a year later - I'd like to have at least one healthy option for a side other than broccoli).
The service from the staff has been getting noticeably worse over time. They take longer to take your order and they hardly if ever check on you while you eat, so it's not uncommon to wind up with nothing to drink until you can flag someone down.
This brings me to last night. One guest was very drunk and walking around the restaurant to random tables (including mine) and people at the bar to interrupt their dinner and talk to them. Other guests were shouting loudly at one of the TVs, which was playing the X Games. The staff did nothing about this except one gentle suggestion to the latter guests to please lower their voices a little...which worked for all of two or three minutes. It felt like I was at a dive bar and not a restaurant which costs upwards of $20 per person. I don't mind a little bit of noise, but if I had wanted a bar atmosphere, I would have gone to a bar, and it made me and the person I was with feel very uncomfortable.
I don't think I will be returning again unless Georgia Boys makes some improvements. I was a long-time customer,...
Read moreFirst the waitress nor manager listened to me about my allergies even tho I asked them several times to check if there was onions in many menu options , because I’m allergic. They did comp me my food, that was nice, but my point here is neither LISTENED to me!!! I feel the manager was rude & condescending. Next time I will just eat the food & send you my hospital bill! When the food was finally served to me ( took another 20 minutes ) it was a plain blue plate with a mound of pork on it. They didn’t even try to make it look attractive. Just plopped it down in front of me. I said now does that look appetizing to you? Really?? My son’s a chef, he says if you think the food looks unappetizing don’t serve it. Oh and I had to repeatedly ask for the corn bread , basically the only thing other than a side salad I could eat. It was never brought to me. I ended up taking the coleslaw, pork, & cornbread home for my daughter since she isn’t allergic to onions. You really should have something on your menu anyone could eat. Or offer to go over the menu & suggest foods without the allergies the customer has. I don’t expect the world to revolve around me, but I do expect some sort of service… compassion. I got to eat a side salad while my friend’s had a BBQ meal, for dinner - no other suggestions were made. I won’t be back. I think your people are rude. I found them to be rude at the Quilt a fair event at the Boulder Fairgrounds last week also. Also there were no lights lit in the patio. I’m thoroughly disappointed because I understand your food is delicious. But I’m also paying for...
Read moreWe love Georgia Boys, their BBQ is fabulous.
Sad to say our last experience was terrible. We asked if we could get a drink at the bar while we wait and then got a talking to from the manager about where we were standing. As we were paying out and leaving a tip for their employee on top of the minimal 18% service fee - apparently we were standing in the “worst place possible”. That’s quite a turn off when we’re spending $30 to get a drink from the bar standing for 2 minutes before we move back to the lobby.
When we were seated it took us 30 minutes to get our waitress take our drink and appetizer order. She then mentioned they were out of chicken, pork and sliced brisket and wasn’t sure if they had chopped brisket - 7pm on a Saturday.
This is something that happens pretty frequently as we’ve noticed.
Please start supplying for the demand, or at let let us know before we wait an hour to hear you can only serve us sausage links.
9/23/21 update- it still seems Georgia Boys struggles with providing good customer service. We went in for dinner and put our name on the list, hostess said the wait was 15 minutes and they’d text us. Low and behold they never let us know the table was ready. Luckily we had gone across the street to get a drink and ended up just eating at Peel after 45 minutes. Customer service seems to be lowest priority for Georgia Boys. Though the BBQ is great, customer service is extremely important when people spend their hard earned money at your business, I won’t...
