I did a little recon before I actually ate at this bistro. I went in near closing time to take. Look and to ask about the coffee options. I was greeted by a young man who I later learned was the manager. He patiently named all of their flavor options. I thanked him and left and told my husband so we could try them out. I loved the furniture. The chairs and sofas are worn leather that give a rustic chic look. My husband and I came in today (3/1) for lattes and breakfast food. The gentleman at the register was very polite and greeted us. I will agree with another reviewer when they said the menus on the wall are hard to read because of glare and font size. They also have handheld menus available at the register. I prefer the Meat Lovers omelette and my husband ordered the Bacon, avocado and cheese on a croissant along with a caramel latte and caramellow latte (I did not see it on the menu but it was told to us by the guy on the register). We were informed of the wait time and where the condiments were. We waited for our food at our table and the food came out at about the time told to us (8-10 min). Our lattes came out right after our food. The lattes were excellent. My Meat Lovers omelette was A++. It was very meaty and and cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed his croissant and he even indulged in an oatmeal raisin cookie which was soft and delicious as well. We sat at a table and the chairs were comfortable. I saw a previous review make mention of the temperature being cold. Most coffee/bistros I visit are cold. I bring a jacket or sweater just in case. Today, I thought the temperature of the bistro was perfect. I was able to take my coat off and still be comfortable (they may have made adjustments based on prior reviews). All in all I loved my experience and the customer service we received. The bistro is a great size, has great furniture, free parking, and great food. I will be returning again and I suggest everyone try it out as well. Side Note: I think it’s unfair in several reviews when people spoke about the costs. I visit several different coffeehouses/bistros in the Frederick area and the costs were comparable to the other establishments. Everything costs more nowadays and the harsh reality is the Frederick of yesterday year is not the Frederick of today. It’s the fastest growing county and the income levels are...

Started with Boston Cream Danish which was Rich and decadent, filled with smooth Boston cream and topped with a perfectly sweet chocolate glaze. A must-try for pastry lovers.
Chicken Egg Cheddar Breakfast Sandwich was served on croissant. It was delicious and satisfying. It was hard to find chicken texture since it was well blended into the egg. Chicken Avocado Melt is a must try. Chipotle aioli was a highlight.
Almond Croissant had enough balance of sweetness and crunch. Strawberry Custard Croissant, A fruity, custardy treat! Custard had a right amount of sweetness so that it wasn’t overpowering. I believe it is most ordered.
Finished with Mocha Latte Coffee which was well-balanced. Entrance faces east. Entrance is wheelchair accessible. Be prepared for a Q in peak hours.
Overall, Roggenart offers a fantastic range of breakfast items, and excellent coffee. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were friendly and efficient. If you're looking for a great European-style café experience, I recommend Roggenart and I will...

Walking into Roggenart feels like stepping into a neighborhood café in Vienna—aromatic, elegant, and effortlessly inviting. The moment you enter, you’re greeted by the scent of freshly baked bread, dark espresso, and buttery pastries that are almost too beautiful to eat (almost).
The craftsmanship here is exceptional. Their croissants are flaky perfection, the quiches are rich and delicate, and the sourdough has that perfect tang and crust snap you’d expect from a proper European bakehouse. I had the smoked salmon tartine with dill crème fraîche—balanced, bright, and plated like a work of art.
Coffee was bold, smooth, and expertly prepared. No burnt beans, no shortcuts—just high-caliber espresso pulled by a barista who knows what they’re doing. The ambiance is relaxed but refined, with just the right blend of rustic charm and modern European style.
Service? Warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they serve. You’re not just grabbing a quick bite here—you’re enjoying a culinary experience built on tradition and pride.
Frederick is lucky to have this place. Roggenart doesn’t just raise the bar—it is the bar for cafés...
