July 14, 2022 - Times are changing for restaurant chains . . . like Bonefish ! The lines were out the door when this location opened in Frederick about 13 or so years ago.

Our 7 member party ( 3 generations) we’re seated quickly last night, with an excellent server Adam who treated our little Grandson like a Prince! His cup of milk arrived before our signature cocktails! ( Winter cranberry martini, blackberry summer sangria, two rum fruit punch . . . Yummy)

The dining room wasn’t packed, but busy !

I noticed little changes in the quality of food, but overall tasty seafood entrees all around from the Salmon to Chilean Sea Bass. Our older grandchild liked his artichoke hearts & spinach over chicken in a white sauce. ( Lilly Chicken) My daughter liked her Tuna Poke Bowl with sticky rice & veggies in a pineapple glaze! My daughter -in-law enjoyed her pork chop & broccoli entree. Our 2 year old grandson smiled when his shrimp poppers & French fries arrived! 😀

The original owners Tim Curci & Chris Parker’s vision of Bonefish appealed to those seeking a quality dining experience that featured good seafood, and handcrafted signature cocktails in a big city style bar and modern restaurant with attentive service! Certain trends can take a toll on that “ vision”.

*Bloomin’ Brands Inc. purchased Bonefish

Now 183 Bonefish locations

Also own Carrabba’s Italian Grill

*Own Fleming Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

*Scaled menu items down

*Local fish more expensive (go overseas)

*Shrimp size smaller , as prices increase

*Sauces tend to hide true flavors of seafood

*Prices determine smaller portions

*Patrons want faster service, quality ??

*Restaurants add entertainment ( tv, games )

*Patrons seek cheaper prices, quality ??

Overall, I give Frederick’s Bonefish a 4.5 rating . . . The service is still excellent, the seafood quality is OK , and the signature cocktails are very good.

Honestly, I see some of these trends in our Maine seafood restaurant establishments . Climate change impacts our...

This was our first time in and our second choice for the evening. From the moment we walked in we had fast, courteous service. From our wine and through the appetizers the environment, appeal, service and quality was great. Quickly we were started with correctly poured wines. The BFG Imperial dip was phenomenal. I had chosen the Sea scallops and shrimp with the herb pesto sauce along with the garlic whipped potatoes and steamed asparagus. Everything delivered its own unique flavor and was as fresh as possible. My partner had chosen the Chicken marsala with the same side selection. We were extremely satisfied and not only couldn't finish the food we had received our dessert plans were cast far away. During the great conversation and taste testing of the outstanding food we hadn't realized that the bar shut down. We were so caught up in our world that I had to ask the waiter what time they closed even though I saw online it said 10:00 pm. He informed us that they were closing at 8:00 pm this evening as the note on the door stated but we were not an inconvenience. We apologized and he said we could not get a refill on our wine due to the bar being completely shut down. We continued to explain that if we would have known we never would have come in and ordered. But as politely as anyone could be he continued to make sure we were happy and told us that it was his mistake for not telling us. We were very satisfied and plan on coming with plenty of time for our next evening. This restaurant will be highly recommended and we will be returning often. After research on the companies background and making I feel they've done an outstanding job...

Update 8/8/25 OK, so this was much different than our 2 star experience i reviewed earlier down below. I stopped in with my 9 year old son and 10 year old daughter after basketball on Friday night around 7pm. We were seated immediately as there was no wait. Our waitress came right over for our drink and appetizer order. After that she grabbed our drinks and brought back bread. My son smashed the bread really quick, he loves it. The Bang Bang shrimp came out quickly and they were really good. I stayed away from steak this time just to be safe. My daughter ordered grilled shrimp with rice and my son grilled shrimp with fries. I ordered fish & chips, but i requested broccoli instead of fries and added a lobster tail. I didn't even get a taste of the lobster tail, the kids ate it. They said the shrimp was good and so was my fish. We never had an empty glass and our waitress was attentive during our entire visit. We will definitely be visiting again.

-‐------------------------- I stopped in with my 9 year old son because he wanted lobster. Our drinks came out pretty quick and the bread didn't take too long. The bread was the best part of the whole meal. I ordered the 7oz filet with broccoli and Coleslaw. My son ordered the Mahi Mahi and lobster. My filet might have been one of the worst I've ever had. The taste and texture were both off. I tried salt and pepper as well the sauce that came with it, but it didn't help. My broccoli was fine, but the slaw was odd tasting. My son liked the lobster, but not the fish. Definitely not worth the $100 bill for the 2 of us and i cannot recommend this...

6/2019- Really enjoyed the Sunday brunch. The Bonefish Cobb Salad was yummy. I will definitely return soon ———————————————————- My previous visit here was several years ago. I was pleasantly surprised with its makeover. The dining room is nice and modern. It's a gem in Frederick with a ample amount of free parking spaces. The food was excellent at great values. If you like great food, quiet restaurant without any stress of being around the crowds and traffic congestion, Bonefish Grill is definitely the place to go. We loved the warm bread and oil while waiting for our dishes. The Grilled Salmon Super food Salad contained a big piece of Salmon and sweet potatoe chunks, kale, romaine, avocado, feta, quinoa and citrus dressing. It is only $17 and very delicious! The Rainbow Trout and herb pesto was grilled to its perfection. It was not heavily salted unlike most dishes from other restaurants. Highly recommend it and will definitely return soon.
