Jumbo Kitchen — Restaurant in Freehold Township

We ordered lunch like we do on a weekly basis for the last few years. When the total price seemed high for the amount of lunch specials ordered we called back, and were told that the price was correct. One dish was missing so we called back. The man on the phone was rude. I looked at the bill and saw that we were charged $8.50 per dish instead of the normal $5.75. I asked why. He told me that we ordered lunch combos. I said that we've ordered for years and we always get the lunch specials. He told me that it didn't matter what we've done in the past, that we asked for lunch combos. I asked the difference because we still only got soda, or soup, or egg roll. So what made it a combo? He claimed that the size of the order was larger. I asked if he was serious, the container was rectangle instead of round, but there was definitely not an extra $3.00 in food. He told me to order better next time. What? He also stated that we confused them because we modified some orders. The lunch menu clearly states that dishes can be altered. When I told him that we would no longer would order from him if this is how he handles an issue, he said that he didn't want our business and hung up. I don't care how good the food is, or is not, the customer service was disgraceful. He was nasty and made no effort to rectify the situation. He would only get nastier and blame us. I work in customer service... we always try to satisfy our customers. Jumbo Kitchen just didn't care. It's a shame, but after 4 years, we will go elsewhere. They had their chance to fix this and they wouldn't.

Disgusting. Food used to be great but the last 3 or 4 times ordering from this place was disgraceful. They constantly screw up rhe order. The most recent time, found a loooong black hair baked into the sesame chicken .

So we called. They said ok we can make your next order free ok? Ok cool . I call in for the order. Of course they don't want to honor it now. Try to cut a different deal..etc... and I said "No, I would have just asked for a refund or a fresh meal the day of if that's the case. "The hair killed my appetite that day so the offer was kind and worked well. But now they're not honoring it. They want me to place a second order now so they're still making money. I said again that wasn't the deal and I need one meal. There's no purpose behind being compensated for a disgusting mistake if they just wanna charge me for something else. What a rip off.

So I end up getting the order and they say fine come pick it up (lots of attitude). I go in the place and they're really nasty with me. If this guy could have thrown the order at me he would. Treated as if I'm some criminal because I'm cashing in an offer THEY SUGGESTED to me. So basically this place...they cook hair into their food. They'll try to take back the offer they give you to make up for it. And then they'll make you feel like you were who did something wrong...because you found hair in your food. I'm writing this review because they clearly don't get it. At all. And...

Pure Honesty. Its very sad story. I rarely eat chinese food anymore after 1 bad experience at this place....which the 4 previous times i kept saying, lets give it 1 more try. If a chinese place messed up General Tso chicken, it shouldnt be in business. This place 3 years ago had the best....from what i have read, owners changed. The 4 previous times, the chicken was BURNT, and never actually had any chicken in them, just fried pieces of fried pieces. But i was chasing the delicious taste i once had from the best Chinese restaurant in the area and it repeatly failed me. This final time... I order the General Tso Chicken Lunch Special. the General Tso chicken contains BONES in the pieces, and then i figured okay, ill eat the pork fried rice... the pork fried rice had BONES in it. Okay ill eat the pork fried dumplings and skip the rests... the sent me VEGETABLE Steamed Dumpings and when i called to complain they just yelled at me. Now to be fair... the delivery driver was always nice, id give him 5 stars. I ordered so much i got to know him and tipped well.. I would probably eat chinese twice a week. Now i havent had chinese in over a year! Thanks for ruining my taste for chinese food Jumbo Kitchen.. Please do the world a favor and go out...
