As fair as I can be, I’m giving Tre 3 stars for the food (which is consistently good) and our server, Sam. The rest of the experience we had last night falls on the Manager on Duty and the hostess. We arrived, on time, for our 6:30 reservation for 7 people. The hostess began looking around (there were four large tables available) and speaking with servers. She returned to tell me that our server was “accidentally double booked”, so there would be a wait of 15 minutes or so. She implied that we should wait to be called outside, but I told her I was going to wait over by the bar with my family. Things looked up as she sat us 7 minutes later. We waited for about 10 minutes for our server Sam, who then took our drink order. After that, I watched Sam for 32 minutes (yes, I timed everything) juggling multiple tables on the deck and inside the restaurant. She was finally able to take our food order and we ordered our apps and entrees at the same time. Apps arrived 15 minutes later, minus one they didn’t bring out. Again, food is really good. Back to watching Sam and the rest of the servers being followed around by who it appeared to be a manager, talking at the servers’ backs and seeing the absolute frustration on the servers’ faces. Entrees arrived. Fresh plates were never brought out so we had to use our appetizer plates. Our pizza order was wrong. I ignored it. Wouldn’t have been able to get Sam’s attention if I tried. They then brought out our missing appetizer, which at that point I sent back. Didn’t need it anymore. They came back out with it and said it was “on the house”. It was so busy, that the hostess finally had to start serving. She has extremely curly, thick hair that was not pulled back to serve, like the other servers, so clearly she had no idea she was going to be on the floor as well. Dessert time comes and my son orders vanilla ice cream. Sam came back to tell us that they were out of vanilla ice cream, so my son ordered nothing. Our friend’s cookie skillet came out, served with vanilla ice cream. I had to laugh. I asked Sam which ice cream was in the skillet and she looked perplexed. She left and came back with vanilla ice cream for my son. The bill arrives and my “on the house” app was on the bill, which we had removed. I’m detailing this experience for the owner, as he appears to read all of his reviews and responds in a timely fashion to customers’ concerns. Instead of the manager on duty following around the servers and aggravating them, perhaps he should have owned up to the chaos which was last night and visited the customers seated at the tables. As far as the hostess, I’m all for giving young adults (she was 16) a job if they want to work, but she clearly needs more training and she could have used a bit more support at the station as customers poured through the door. Major kudos to Sam, who as busy as she was, kept her composure, smiled every time she came to our table and who recalled my mentioning it was my son’s birthday two hours earlier (yes. A two hour ordeal) and served him his ice cream with a lit candle, which was very thoughtful. I think under more normal circumstances, she would have been even more incredible than she...
Read moreI went to dinner there on Friday for a friend's birthday and won't return. The food was decent. The service was fabulous. The manager (potentially owner someone said?) was incredibly rude. I brought in a cake for the birthday after calling that afternoon to confirm that it was ok. (I would have completely understood if they'd said no) Once I arrived, I was informed that they could not serve the cake. I spoke to the manager (owner?) and he told me that they have a sign that says "no outside food allowed". I replied "this is my first time here!" I showed him the outgoing calls on my phone and explained that I spoke to a woman who approved my request. He said that she was a trainee. I said that I understood that mistakes happen and I'm sure it was honest, but I went through a lot of trouble to get the cake because they said it was ok. I expressed that I was unsure why, when I did what I was supposed to do, I was being brushed off. The manager (owner?) said that he could lose his license. (I researched this - it's a GROSS overstatement and an unnecessary threat.) He agreed to serve the cake and left. He came back 5 minutes later to tell me that "I've suspended the girl who said that to you, she won't be back, it won't be a problem any more" I was speechless. Assuming he was telling the truth, he didn't train his employees properly, so he "suspended" her? And he felt the need to tell me this in the middle of my celebration? The problem was already solved! I was not angry. I didn't call for disciplinary action. I just wanted to eat my cake. He also brought over a $15 mozzarella dish on the house as a sorry. Our wonderful waiter (who's name I can't remember because I'm awful with names) did bring out a cake with the candle - it was great. I have no desire to return to Tre because I feel that the manager was a bully to me and potentially to his staff (if he was being honest, which is in doubt based on other...
Read moreDissappointed is an understatement! Decided to come to Tre as the food had been good the previous time we've gone. Upon arriving around 6pm, the hostess asked if the covered outdoor area was ok. I agreed, as I assumed the many empty tables in the main room were reserved. She walked us towards the outdoor area, past more empty tables and seated us in the literal back corner. We didn't think too much of it since that was the only 2 seater table at the section, but looking back it was so unnecessary since no one else was seated there during the rest of our time there. It almost felt like they were hiding us in the back for some reason.
Once we sat down, we realized there was a large party being held at the other end of the room. Not an issue for us. We sat and chatted for a while, then noticed no server had come to greet us or offer water which we excused away as them being busy with the party/Friday crowds. We spent the next ten minutes trying to spot and wave over a server but it didn't seem like there were any in the party section either. We got up and walked out after having been seated for 30 minutes without any service from anybody. Busy or not, that is unacceptable! At that point we would have just waited for a table in the main room! We walked right in front of the hostesses who seemed to have forgotten who we were as well. Not sure if she maybe seated us in an area that she shouldn't have but we genuinely don't care to know anymore.
Unfortunately, we will not be returning - the food is good, but not good enough for...
