I’ve been to Solo Trattoria before, but after this last visit, I’ll never step foot in that place again. My spouse and I went in for dinner, and we ordered the beef carpaccio—big mistake. A few hours later, we were both violently sick. By the next morning, we were taking turns throwing up all day. I don’t know if it was the carpaccio or cross-contamination in the kitchen, but whatever it was, it wrecked us.

The service was just as bad as the food. Our server was too busy vaping in the back and flirting with her boyfriend to do her actual job. She barely checked on us, left us for an hour and a half from 8:30 to 10 pm just eating the appetizer and the vodka pasta and was surprised when we cancelled the main entree (which she was planning to bring out at 10 pm?) We were treated like an inconvenience anytime we needed something and she would leave us hanging for 20-30 minutes every-time we would ask for something until she would remember and send somebody else out to bring us what she forgot. It was clear nobody in that place cared about the customers.

The worst part? When I called to let them know what happened and ask for a refund, the manager hit me with some absolute nonsense about how they “can’t” do refunds because it’s “machine now.” Whatever that even means. Instead, he offered us a free dinner—like I’d ever risk eating there again after spending 24 hours violently sick.

I don’t know what happened to this place, but it’s not what it used to be. Between the food poisoning, the careless service, and the joke of an owner, Solo Trattoria isn’t just a bad restaurant—it’s a health risk. Avoid it unless you enjoy gambling with...

I ordered from Solo Trattoria via DoorDash a few items for Mother's Day dinner. Knowing that they may get pretty busy, I ordered 4 hours ahead and had the restaurant confirm my order. 20 minutes after my order was supposed to arrive, I texted my DoorDash driver, who informed me that he is still waiting on the order before mine at another restaurant. Realizing that DoorDash has screwed up and not wanting my order sitting at the restaurant and getting cold, I called Solo figuring I can just go pick it up myself. At that point, it was about 30 minutes after it was supposed to be at my house, but to my great surprise and disappointment, Solo told me that they have not even started cooking my order yet. So I placed the order 4.5 hours prior at that point and they did not seem to care much about the time I indicated I wanted my order to be ready. I realize it was Mother's Day, but this is exactly why I ordered and had my order confirmed 4 hours in advance. I then cancelled my order. Very disappointed in Solo Trattoria's service or rather lack thereof. Was looking forward to trying a new Italian restaurant in the area and supporting my community restaurants, but based on this terrible experience, have written them off and will...

Dinner with party of 8 on Friday evening, 1/25/19. This was our first venture to Solo Trattoria & we were immediately impressed with the dining room & table settings. Next, our waiter Brett was outstanding. Well spoken, very knowledgeable of the menu & extremely attentive. The food was all excellent.....warm dipping olive oil with roasted garlic on the table; appetizers including Focaccia Mozzarella, Prosciutto E Peperoni Arrosto, Polpettine Fritte, Grilled Baby Artichokes Special, & Spinaci Caprino E Noci (salad). Our entrees included Farfalle All 'Ammiano, Scaloppine Al Mamma Carmen, Vitella Mediterranea Veal Scallopini & specials including a Roasted Salmon, NY Strip Steak & Tuna Medallions. Everything was prepared & presented perfectly.....we were running late & didn't have time for deserts, but I suspect they would be equally top notch. Solo Trattoria will definitely be on our list of favorite Italian restaurants...

This one of the 5 star ratings that makes me wish there was a 6th star option. The owner and the staff are all clearly passionate about what they do. The food was unbelievably delicious. Every one of us had a fantastic meal and cleaned our plates. It's so hard to find Italian food this good!! The pasta is made in house and you can certainly tell. It was delicious and fresh tasting. Giorgio was a gracious host and very polite and friendly. Our server Tom was extremely knowledgeable about the food and how it's prepared. He was also very upbeat and friendly. He had great suggestions and terrific service. The live music by Jonah was perfect. Not too loud. Just enough to make the atmosphere enjoyable and make you feel like you truly escaped for a night on the town. We will definitely be going back and my only regret is that I didn't discover this restaurant sooner. This place is a gem and we're lucky to have it in Freehold!

The food is here is fairly good but service is slow. We had a nice, polite waiter who appeared attentive at first but it was nearly impossible to get his attention after being seated. Do not plan on going here for lunch, you'll never get back in time. It's appears as if the restaurant has large doors on the front that will open out onto the street. That would be nice on a summer evening. The white table clothes and dishes add a nice touch but this is a very long and narrow restaurant. Request sitting in the front room or else you may find yourself sitting in a long, narrow, hallway.

Solo Trattoria might not be what you expect: - very unusual style of Italian cooking, not do creamy, smaller portions, definitely not family style - we were charged $13.95 for a small side order of spaghetti with tomato sauce - BYOB - a little bit upscale ambitions: plenty of wait staff, all very formal, piano music instead of opera - for our tastes the food was somewhat bland. The ingredients were fresh and the food was definitely not greasy but the flavors were not rich, but for our taste- bland Bottomline: felt like an Italian restaurant that purposefully tries to be not Italian
