Belly's on the Brazos for the first time, yesterday around 2:30 pm. Belly's has parking across the road, and vehicles also park along the road. Dirt parking with some standing water, but no problems where we parked. Belly's is clean, friendly, and welcoming. There is indoor and outdoor seating. On this cool day, the garage style doors were open connecting the indoor area with the deck. Jack Nelson, maybe the finest singer I've ever heard in a bar-restaurant, serenaded us with his beautiful voice and guitar playing. We ordered the shrimp basket and the grouper entree. The grouper was excellent. Served over mashed potatoes with a side of broccoli. The shrimp basket rivaled anything I've had in Houston. The shrimp were very large and expertly cooked. The french fries were unusual in that they were cut into thin wide strips and fried crisp. I loved them so much. A side of cole slaw was creamy, fresh, and delicious. Our waitress was prompt, friendly, and excellent. I'm so glad we finally went here. So many restaurants on the water near here are disappointing in food, service, and cleanliness. Belly's hit the mark...
Read moreThe location and views at this establishment are truly exceptional. We have visited multiple times, hoping for an improved experience; however, the service and management consistently fall short.
On our most recent visit, our drinks took nearly 45 minutes to arrive and were served warm. Our food order followed 45min to an hour later, with multiple errors—two orders were missing, and one was incorrect. Additionally, the restaurant had run out of French fries at lunch time on multiple occasions, which was disappointing.
The most concerning aspect was the management’s approach. The manager, who was tending the bar, openly criticized our server rather than providing support. Instead of assisting when drinks were visibly sitting at the bar, melting, she allowed the delay to persist. Later coming to the table to apologize for our server and not taking any accountability.
While the atmosphere holds great potential, the service and management require significant improvement to match the quality of...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of trying a buffalo fish sandwich for the first time, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. The sandwich was served on a hoagie bun rather than a typical hamburger bun, making it a substantial meal. The generous portion of fish added to its appeal.
The accompanying french fries were particularly interesting; they were cut to be thick on one side and thin on the other, giving them a unique texture that I found delightful. The balance of fries to sandwich was well thought out, ensuring that neither felt overwhelming.
The sandwich itself was topped with pickles, mayonnaise, and buffalo sauce, which combined beautifully for a flavorful experience. Additionally, the service was commendable; the waitress was friendly and attentive, which contributed positively to my visit. The restaurant was not overcrowded, allowing for a relaxed atmosphere.
If you find yourself in Freeport, I highly recommend giving this place a try; the food and service...
