Chaiwala Shop has a lot going for it, but the experience is definitely mixed. Located in Fremont with plenty of parking, the shop draws massive crowds, and the day I visited, it was packed. While I was initially hesitant to order due to the chaos, the ginger cardamom chai on their menu was too tempting to pass up.
We placed our order at the kiosk, which was straightforward, but the real challenge came at the pick-up area. The place was incredibly loud, and the unorganized flow of patrons was frustrating. It was hard to hear servers calling out orders, and the lack of personal space added to the tension. Unfortunately, several orders before ours came out incorrectly, which only escalated the irritation among customers.
After what felt like an eternity, our names were finally called. The chai cups were surprisingly small, but we were relieved to escape the crowded atmosphere.
The silver lining? The chai was absolutely worth the wait. The ginger cardamom flavors were perfectly balanced, and I’m eager to return to try more from their menu—hopefully at a less hectic time.

Read moreWe headed to Chaiwala Shop right after visiting Chandini Chowk. They offer a fantastic selection of desi vegetarian dishes, including snacks, kullad pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, Maggi, pasta, shakes, chai, and coffee. We tried the Peri Peri Veggie Burger and Penne White Sauce Pasta, both of which were delicious. One suggestion for improvement would be to avoid serving the hot pasta in a black plastic to-go box for dine-in customers; it’s too hot to be served that way. I’m not sure what the reasoning is behind it, as the portion sizes aren’t so large that people need to take them to-go. I noticed the pasta was cooked in a healthy stainless steel pan, so it seems odd to serve it in a to-go box. Overall, all the dishes tasted great. If they maintain the quality and flavor, they have a bright...

Chaiwala is a fantastic spot to hang out with friends, perfect for a weekly ritual. The chai and snacks are delicious, and the overall vibe of the place is great. The staff is super friendly and polite, making the experience even better. The ginger chai is spot on and consistently prepared. Despite the weekend crowds, the service is quick, and the self-order kiosk makes everything easier. A clean restroom is available, which is always a plus. Bonus: There’s an Indian grocery store nearby, so you can have fun while ticking off some errands.
PS: When I was sick, I ordered their large ginger chai and veg grilled sandwiches for days—they were comforting and absolutely perfect. Highly...
