If it wasn't for this elderly woman employee (owner, management, staff I dont know who she is) then I would have given 5 stars for this business, everyone except this female is considerate, and goes out of their way to help, or at least behaves with humanity. (Im saying elderly since other females are very young compared to this female) This isnt the first incident, twice I neglected her behavior attributing it to work pressure of handling the store. After scanning each item, she is throwing it on the other side without care. Last time she probably didn't see that she needs to approve once we slid our credit card or it was some other mistake from her slide, she concluded rudely that our card didnt work, took card from us and slid again, I wonder how mistakes happen when she is at checkout counter every time and not with other cashiers who are better trained. If you want our card and slide, she could have asked for it, instead of rudely taking. She isnt doing any favor on us. Just as she and others are working hard at the business, we work hard to earn money and pay at your store. This elderly female is devoid of manners. Owners or management, if you are reading, please train her on behavior or if she is one among you, then Im not sure what to say. The other cashiers are well trained and our cards work well unless its this female, where her conclusion is customers cards dont work, throwing food without care seems normal, disrespect is normal. Is this behavior acceptable, where you throw away food stuff carelessly after scanning, or treat customers with disrespect? can she atleast behave with other person as a human? Does she hold grudge against people and is behaving out of spite? This isnt the first time she behaved this way. There is no justification for her behavior. I know this one review isn't going to affect your business, but from what I know, treating humans with respect also doesn't cost anything. Like I said earlier, I neglected this behavior twice earlier, but one cant keep acting this way. All the other staff at this business are good, what I expect fro anyone is to behave with humanity which seems to be lacking in...
Read moreI have always shopped here for months but didn’t expect this kind of customer service from Apna bazaar team.
Today’s event was a clear evidence of their untrained employees to perform basic cashier duties which is billing and return/refund.
I stepped into the store around 10:30pm to purchase some groceries (instant food and some snacks). I bought 8 packs of instant food and they were supposed to be buy 2 and get 1 free. During billing I noticed that price of each instant box was double its original usual price, I brushed it off thinking it could be part of sale tactics. Then I noticed that the cashier charged me for every box, when I pointed him that it’s on offer he was like “oh I didn’t notice it”. I checked the boxes and also found that they were on sale because they were expiring the same month. I wanted to not make the purchase for stuff that’s close to expiration and additionally same as original price. I requested the cashier to help me return all the instant food I have purchased, he said he can’t return it. There are three make cashier workers who claimed that they can’t return the stuff because they “WEREN’T TRAINED” on returning the stuff that was just bought (a minute ago). I said can someone help with it? They said no one knows how to do that so you just go with the purchase. I said no I am not interested in purchasing the close to expired goods so I want to return it. Can I speak to your manager please? They said our manager isn’t available now, so come in the morning if you want to make returns. I said okay, may I know what time? Say 8:00 am? I have to go to work otherwise. They were like no, he is available only during afternoons so that’s the only time we can return. Come with this bill and they might be able to help.
This was quite obnoxious experience. If you can’t hire experienced staff then you shouldn’t have extended hours that can’t tackle a simple case of returning.
Apna bazaar staff are quite unfriendly and in trained. Will never recommend this place to anyone: will not...
Read moreIf you thought the Sunnyvale Apni Mandi was convenient, wait until you see its Fremont sibling. This location is huge—easily twice the floor space—so navigating crowded aisles is finally a thing of the past. The first thing that hits you is the produce section: crisp methi leaves, vibrant bhindi, and tender drumsticks that look like they were picked that very morning—nothing wilted or bruised in sight.
Even better, prices on staples—everything from toor dal to Parle-G—are consistently a few dollars lower than Sunnyvale’s tags. For bulk shoppers and big families, those savings add up fast. Variety is equally impressive: aisles are lined with regional flours, rice, hard-to-find masalas, and ready-to-eat snacks I haven’t spotted anywhere else in the Bay Area. In fact, you’ll find nearly every product you’d expect in a kirana store back home—from specialty pickles and papads to steel idli plates and pressure-cooker gaskets.
A unique highlight is the outdoor open market at the entrance—think of it as a mini farmers’ bazaar brimming with fresh herbs, seasonal fruits, and street-style snack stalls. It’s an experience I haven’t seen at any other Indian grocery in the Bay Area and it adds a lively, weekend-market vibe to every visit.
The cashiers deserve a special shout-out: consistently friendly, quick with a smile, and happy to double-bag fragile items or track down last-minute requests without rushing you along.
Knowing I can swing by at odd hours and still find the same freshness and welcoming staff is a genuine game-changer.
Apni Mandi Fremont has set a new benchmark for Indian grocery shopping in the Bay Area—bigger, fresher, cheaper, stocked like the best markets in India, complete with a vibrant outdoor bazaar, staffed by friendly cashiers, and always open.
Highly...
