Previously known as Asian Pearl (we have been many many times to the old one), this restaurant has surely a new owner and is a disaster in many ways.
Today, on Christmas Day, we decided to order some food. Order containing 6 basic items, was done at the opening time, 10:30am. The person told us that it would be ready in about 30min. I arrived 40min after the order and the restaurant was packed outside and inside, making it quite difficult to go to the cashier. I politely asked for my order and the person ignored me for some time and I had to say again that I was coming to pickup an order. She found the bill and asked to pay for it which we did and I asked if it was ready. She checked with the kitchen and came back to tell me it was not ready. I told her I was a bit surprised because we were already 45min after the order and still not ready. I asked when I would get it and she did not know as the chicken was still being prepared... so I started to wait next to the cashier and got pushed many times by non careful employees rushing here and there. The noise in the restaurant was also pretty high and not enjoyable...
After 10min wait I asked again where was my order and another cashier lady told me it was not ready and I started to complain and express my frustration as over the phone they told us it would be ready in 30min. She basically did not care and so I waited again. A few minutes later an order was dropped at the cashier and they did not even bother to look at it and I approached the cashier and she ignored me and processed the payment for another customer and then called me to tell me it was my order ... I mean seriously.
After a 5min drive back home, we tried the food and it was cold especially the dim sums which was also not ok. The chicken was barely hot too. So all of this needed to be warmed up.
A few hours later, we both got stomach issues.
This restaurant clearly does not care about its customers and is a giant mess and debacle.
We have been to many Chinese restaurants and this one is probably one of the worst.
Definitely NOT recommended....
Read moreWow! The real deal when it comes to dim sum! I can't understand over half of what is on this menu but my stomach understands that it's absolutely delicious.
I was brave enough to try the jellyfish I had to ask what it was That's how I know it actually was jellyfish. Didn't really know what to expect but I have to tell you it was really good! We came towards the later portion of the dim sum service, which meant about 30% of what we requested they didn't have.
That being said they were very prompt to tell us I'm sorry we're sold out of this this this and that. And they were very helpful to offer suggestions of what their favorite dishes were that they still had in stock. This is why I tell you I really have no clue what we ate but I can promise you it was all scrumptious.
About the only thing I could really positively identify was their roasted duck. I want to let you know I've had roasted duck from Chinese restaurants all up and down the coast of California and this truly was some of the finest duck I've ever tasted.
Well I'm originally from California I was just visiting here for this restaurant to get an awesome dim sum experience as the town I live in now offers nothing of the sort on this level.
I remember eating dim sum as a kid plenty of times and all of the places I used to go the portions of each individual piece were very tiny and bite-sized. Not the case here. These pieces of dim sum are very large where some of them are practically fist-sized, or very close to it. You will not go hungry here...
Read moreWorst dim sum place I’ve ever been in my life. Please avoid. Not because of their food, but their service attitude:
All the plates and utensils were not properly cleaned and we could still see food debris on them.
They cleaned up all the plates on our table so quick (there was still food on the plates). They asked us to pick up the remaining food on the plate so they can get it. We didn’t even finished our food yet. I understood there might be lots people waiting for the table during lunch time. But we couldn’t even finished our food in peace. It took us less than 1 hour to finish the 9 dishes that we ordered, which was extremely rush. They just kept busing the table and disturbing your conversation so they could have higher table turnover rate.
They forced at least 15% tip AFTER TAX. We normally tip 15% pre-tax. Our server, Mandy, was furious after she saw the amount we tipped, and repeatedly complained this is impolite in Cantonese (We don’t speak Canto verbally but we could understand it). SHE ASKED US TO CHANGE THE TIP AMOUNT AND SAID THIS IS THE NORM IN THE STATES. Born and raised here, I’ve never heard there’s a ‘rule’ for tipping. We could have tip 0 given the service they provided. We originally refused to change the tip amount as we did nothing wrong. After “negotiating” with her for a while, we just gave up and tipped the amount that she insisted she deserved.
Avoid this restaurant if you want a peaceful dining experience. There are so many dim sum restaurants in the Bay Area you...
