Breaking the rules!
My daughter and I made a quick visit for some take out at Bobby Salazar's! As usual, we ordered the Holy Guacamole, and added some other items like two burritos with NO cheese for my sons (dairy allergy, both of them), a dinner plate and three, yes three Quesadillas. The service was excellent. No one else was there at the time, so we got star treatment.
Everything turned out well except for two things which described my rating.
1-The Holy G needed salt. Any salt at all. However, on the positive side, I did like the freshness.
2-The biggest issue? I made a point to tell them my sons are allergic to dairy (if you read my reviews, you already know this), mentioning it at least twice, where the server and another person mentioned that they got it! Even when servers say they have it, I still tend to mention it again, because of its importance. Beans, Ground Beef and Rice. That's all I asked for.
When we got home, I gave it to my son who luckily was too full at the time to eat. I said ok.
About an hour later, my wife went to cut it in half to serve it to them, and out came some melted cheese. Not a little, as though it was an accident or some stray grated pieces, but stretchy-could have been a pizza-nacho style-cheese.
Needless to say I was sad. And the boys, well, Dino nuggets it was (I think).
The moral of the story, we still unwrap all food purchased from restaurants, burritos, Calzones, Samosa, you name it, wrapped like a dumpling, and we cut it open. Because for some reason, I think kitchen staff are on auto pilot. They need to realize that a modification due to an allergy is not something to be upset about, or forget about, or gloss over because you are busy. It's a big deal and for some can mean life or death.
Please, if you are reading this and you are from any restaurant, work in a restaurant, own a restaurant. Give allergies a second look. For some reason they are becoming more prevalent. More common. Not sure why, but I do know something like this can be avoided.
As for Bobby Salazars, I am not one to punish for one mislead. I always turn the other cheek. But the review is honest. we will be back, I'm always a fan of the food and...
Read moreMy experience at this Bobby’s was less than desirable. I went on a taco Tuesday after work and needless to say this place has gone down hill, service was less than acceptable. No one checked in our table or bothered to stop at our table unless we physically had to stop someone. The server or busser we did stop in order to receive help had a terrible attitude. Like we get it, you love collecting dirty dishes; but can you at least pretend to be helpful? Just like the other reviews I ordered the short ribs and they were horrific and cold in the center! After expressing our clear discomfort with service and food the bartender/ server/ manager finally came by our table to loudly announce “I’m sorry you didn’t like the taste of the ceviche”. So glad he took the time to stop and acknowledge us verbally rather than starring, like he had been doing for over 30 min. Long story short you could get a better meal at the Taco Bell in the same parking lot or Bobby’s in tower . This place should shut down they’re always empty, service is terrible and clearly the manager can’t seem to get his establishment or food quality under control. Needless to say they took off the unappetizing items we ordered, but I ended up leaving without eating dinner. I strongly suggest stick with Hacienda...
Read morePoor service from our server. His name was apparently Tom, no way to confirm it, however he was the middle aged man who has tattoos all over his arms. The food was decent, and our group of 10 spent about $300 after all was said and done. Beware, they charge 1.99 for chips and salsa, and they give you a tiny bowl. Most places do not charge from this. The real kicker was when we wanted to have the bill split. No one asked if we wanted to split before we sat down, so when we noticed our bill, we asked to split. Tom refused to. He said that we should have told him before, as it would have made his job much easier for him. He suggested that we instead find out how much to calculate and put it on the card. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem for us, but with a party of 10, we all know what we ordered and could have told him and he could’ve easily inputted it into the computer. However, maybe it was a good thing as they tried to get away with charging us for an extra Modelo and margarita that no one ordered. Also we don’t mind paying a gratuity, and we had to pay the automatic 18% which again, is fine, but Tom could have atleast done an extra step and itemized for us. The food was alright,...
